Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums here and I'm in need of some assistance, advice, help.. all that stuff. So here's the deal.

I have a Motorola xt926 that I purchased while living in the US, it's a verizon phone. From what I've gathered, this is a US ONLY phone, and will not work Internationally, even though its a global phone?

I have unlocked the bootloader, the phone is rooted and verified to be rooted.

Currently it's running 4.1.2,

system version 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US

baseband VANQUISH_BP_100730.151.64.17P

Build number 9.18.1Q-94

I now live in Helsinki, Finland where I believe they use a different frequency for their phones. I'm quite sure that the xt926 does not support these frequencies. But I refuse to believe it will not work.

Is it possible to install the xt925 (same phone, but international version) firmware onto the xt926, to be able to use the phone here? Custom rom or stock, doesn't matter. I would just really like to be able to use the phone here, they only use GMS here I believe.

Right now on the xt926, if I put my SIM card into it, I can text, and call, but no data access. In the phone settings I can see that it can detect phone services, and will even have a connection to UMTS, but I just can't seem to get GSM, or any kind of data connection. Please anyone, help? Thanks!

The 926 is indeed a global phone...... All you should really have to do is insert the "local" sim card..... Reboot, it should pick up the network (if of course there is sufficient signal strength)

If not, give a quick check in network preference in settings/more/network preference.

Your APN may be off...get APN Tweaker from the play store, or some other APN tool

You also may need the RadioComm hack or something....

Thanks guys. I have tried putting in my "local" SIM card, I used to get a message saying 'SIM card from an unknown source' or something along those lines, and I read online about how to remove that from popping up. I have tinkered with the APN settings but still no dice, but I will try that app. As far as the radiocomm hack.. yesterday i did use CDMA-WS to change some numbers in line 8322, which from what I understood is the same that radiocomm would do, but just a different program. That was successful, but hasn't changed anything.

I figured it should've been as easy as putting in the SIM card, changing network settings to gsm/umts, but no. I've tried just about every combination of cdma/gms/umts/global settings that my phone allows but nothing will work. I do get full bars, but they're gray and never turn blue. Aside from getting the APN app aforementioned, I'm out of ideas...

Would installing xt925 firmware over mine be possible, or a wise choice?

NO...... Installing 925 firmware over the 926 will 99.99% chance result in brick (or softbrick)

cmh714... I <3 you

it seems to be working B-E-A-utifully now, running a bit warm maybe, but that might be normal - I haven't used it in months I forget what normal is for it. It picks up the GMS signal just fine, around -81db, the signal seems to jump quite a bit. But now I have other questions.

I'm pretty sure the xt926 runs on a very strict frequency (4g) and I can only seem to get H+ right now, speedtest showing me about 10mbps down, but I know with 4g its capable of over 30mbps. Am I limited to 3g speeds, or is there an app that will let me toggle 4g on and off?

I mean I know there ARE apps for that, but they all seem to revolve around the CDMA/LTE business. Ideas?

I'm still messing with it now, so I may find out by the time someone answers, but by all means share your thoughts!

Thanks a million!!

Glad your getting things looking up :)

The radios in the 925 and 926 are different, so I am not sure....

Yea, I know they're a bit different, that's all good. I don't expect to get 30mbps or above necessarily, that was only when I have 4g turned on on the Xperia (my ex-current phone) since there's a toggle. Otherwise 3g/H+ has been doing me just fine, but just wanting to see what it's capable of. I have an unlimited 4g plan so to limit myself to 3g speeds would be a bummer.

Actually I just now saw it, Finlands 4g capabilities are LTE 1800 and LTE 2600, which are both supported by the xt925, but the xt926 runs LTE 700mhz Class 13. I have no idea what that really means, but clearly it means that 1800 and 2600 are not for the xt926, thus no 4g for me :( I sense a potential dataplan downgrade in my near future
