I'll admit noob ignorance about what type of change requires a ROM.  I mostly want a smooth working phone, and I don't care as much about latest and greatest eye candy.  I like dark themes, but not to the extent I'll put up with spotty GPS for example..

• Uninstall bloatware (Kindle, VZ Navigator, etc)
• Return unlock swipe direction to camera / swipe to text / etc
• SMS message client with a dark theme (maybe previous "Messages" was Moto?)

 

 

In other words, if this can't be changed on the stock ROM, are there any ROMS that fix all of the above?

 

 

Much less important, but I'm also curious:

• Any way to fix the inconsistent theme in Settings icons > "Accounts" in color, rest are white
• "Messaging" client can access contacts that are disabled in "People"
• App or toggle widget for "ring volume linked to notification and alarm"?   ...Yes, I realize this was an Android change for the better a while back, but in a meeting sometimes I prefer low volume sound over a fully silenced or vibration mode

Boot animation sound is: /system/media/droidpu.ogg

Just rename it to .bak or something.

Since you're rooted (& unlocked), you can remove any app that you want (obviously there are apps you shouldn't remove). Personally, I use the "disable" function in the apps manager or freeze them with some other app manager.

Not sure what you mean by #3, but there are plenty of SMS apps that have theme-ing. You didn't need root for that.
