Nobe,

I noticed on 2.8 that I got a black screen that seemed like forever. Eventually I could touch the screen and I would get an unlock to get into TWRP. I don't have that issue with 2.7.1.0. That may be what he is experiencing. I had to go back to 2.7.1.0.

Any fix for this Black Screen yet?  I want to go up to 2.8 but that black screen is annoying.

Mine was on the latest (183.46.15) but I'm currently on kkbl CM11 and I still see it at times.

Same setup here. It worked fine when I flashed it and used it last night.

This morning I boot to recovery and get the black screen.

It seems ever since the KKBL version of TWRP came out, I cannot get it to restore the data at all. It gets about half-way through and then says it fails. Don't know what the error is, but it can never restore my data. It has no issue with the rest (system, boot, etc), just data.

Has anyone had a full nandroid backup restore successfully with TWRP on KKBL?

Thanks!

I'm still on 2.7.1.0 and my data restores just fine.  The changes that Nobe made shouldn't have affected restore should it?  My only issue with 2.8 was the black screen.

Its actually the way Moto changed the data partition and the way it is formatted. There is a new format that conflicts with ext4 partition backups. If your data partition is set to f2fs it needs to be repaired and formatted back to ext4. Since most of everyones backups are ext4 it will have issues applying to f2fs. #justsaying

Maybe this is it. I'll have to look into it, however, I thought I was on ext4. I've never set it to f2fs that I know of.

I think I was automagically set for f2fs after the KK update, but I did have this issue and reformatting fixed it.

In TWRP I think its under Advanced you can reformat the partition to what you need.....I posted this somewhere already :)

Really easy processes, but you will have to backup the current data that is on you internal storage first before attempting it

That was it. When I went into the advanced section and then repair system, it said f2fs. Man. I was wondering why I couldn't never get data to restore. Frustrating but now I know.

Just goes to show, no matter how long you might have been at it with Android, flashing, etc, you're never too old (or too young) to learn something new.

Thanks to everyone that helped.

Well, I did it and then I downloaded your updated 2.8 and installed.  Still got the black screen.  I had to disconnect the battery and reinstall 2.7.1 and restore my backup.  Not sure what's going on but I'm sure you will figure it out.

What device do you have just wondering?
