My phone is
my razr maxx hd 9.1.41.xt926 verizon.en.US
Model droid razr maxx hd android version 4.1.1
Baseband version vanquish_bp_100700.210.64.05p

when i run the 1.10 utility I hit 1 it doesn't work but I saw a you tube video the guy used 1.0 and it worked

Again...

What steps did you take and what error messages did you receive?

Simply saying "it didn't work" is not an explanation, nor can anyone help you with that info. Please take the time to read what is posted in the OP and what is asked when trying to help.

This tool works great, and more likely than not, the issue is you didn't read the OP in its entirety (which is reinforced by the lack of reading my prior post). We're here to help, but you have to uphold your end of the bargain too :) If you don't do that, no one can help you. ;)

Please be specific, the more specific, the better. :D

This is for the Razr Maxx HD on JB?
I am just trying to make sure I don't hose my device and then run around asking for HELP!!!
I've been reading so many post and most say there is no root process unless I downgrade to ICS.
This will work for me on 4.1.1?

thanks

OK I guess this process is also the ICS downgrade as well.
Just noticed... BUMMER

Yes and no... it's for the Razr/Maxx HD on both ICS and JB.

That is correct, although I'm not 100% if djrbliss's root exploit for the original Razr/Maxx will now allow HD users to root theirs without going back to ICS. The thread for his exploit is:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

I would ask under that thread if it is compatible with the HD's.

If his exploit doesn't work on the HD's, then yes, you have to flash back to ICS, and instructions can be found here:

EDIT: djrbliss's exploit is NOT compatible with anything other than the ORIGINAL Razr/Maxx family.

You don't need 1.0.

This is the third time replying without the information that was asked of you in order to help you.

When you decide to answer the questions that were posed to you twice before, and twice ignored, then the help you need can be adequately given.

I'd recommend researching a program before blindly using it on a device as important as your phone. Making mistakes is how we learn and I've made plenty. I made quite a few when I got my first Droid a few years ago, but in order to learn, you have to listen... something you're not doing. Reading is extremely important if you want to delve into your phone and mod it. You must know that before the Razr/Maxx HD came out there was a regular Razr/Maxx... maybe you should start in the forums there if you don't want help.

When you decide you actually want help, then I and others are here and happy to help.

Ok.... to let everyone know... the only difference between 1.0 and 1.1 is the updated su binaries and the safe strap option..... so for the fastboot option (option 1), either version will work exactly the same providing you have the proper Motorola drivers installed, have the utility downloaded and extracted to your desktop, are plugged in by USB ... phone booted into APFastboot mode.... and running the .bat file from within the utility folder......

Oh, I know that, but the gentleman that's having issues with it refuses to tell anyone what problems he's having and believes 1.0 will definitely work because he saw somebody on you tube use it in lieu of 1.10.

@budnick ..... it does really help if you can provide some details on how its "not working" e.g. errors shown, force close, hangs at a certain point etc etc..... :)

I'm glad you were able to get everything working =]

Everyone is always going to be more than happy to take the time and help you if you have a problem, but it becomes insanely frustrating when asking questions, trying to help and they're repeatedly ignored. Instead, all that's repeatedly given is "it doesn't work, help", or here's a 23 min video that shows my problem somewhere in the 23 minutes of film. In the future, I'd recommend only linking a video as an aide, not as a description. Forum members are always more than willing to take the time to help.... but you have to uphold your end and let them know what it is you need help with :)

typically we see that error when we need to toggle the USB (unplug then plug back in) during the process...... its very possible that you have a bad USB cable or one of the contacts on either end of the USB cable or the USB port(s) on the computer are bad......i would try a different USB cable (as well as your current re-downloading).....

First off, thanks. I really appreciate the work that goes into this kind of thing.

Now, I'm having a difficult time...
Just last week, I got a new Razr Maxx HD. I wanted to restore (Titanium Pro) all of my apps and data to it that I had on my old Bionic. So, I started out by trying a bunch of different downloads from different forums of the motofail2go tool. However, none of them worked (and even though I'm no Android/Linux expert, I think I generally know what I'm doing, and I've successfully rooted many other devices up to this point).

Then I found this utility (the one this thread is about), and the motofail2go within this utility somehow worked.
I used it to successfully root the Maxx HD (which was brand new, and still on 4.0.4).
I also used it to install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (though I didn't install Safestrap at that time).

Then I restored my apps, and got it all set the way I wanted it.

Then I backed up everything (apps and sys in separate backups to keep em separate) with Titanium.

[All throughout this process, from the day I got the new Maxx HD, it was telling me that there's an update ready to install, and I just kept delaying it, because I wanted to make sure I had root established (and forever root) before I let any updates fly]

Then, once I was rooted, and had all my stuff restored, and reconfigured how I wanted it, and backed up, I let the 0.7.2 update proceed.

After the 0.7.2 update, it seems like I lost root. When I check with one root checker, it says that I have root, but another one says I don't. Negative seems confirmed when I open Titanium and it says I'm not rooted.

Then I tried this utility again, but this time, it failed.
I let it restart, checked everything, tried again, and still failed.

Any idea what I might try to get by this hurdle?
