heheh I found the sql edit for the Jellybean roms, under settings.db secure you will find "subscription_mode" mine was 0 now it's 1 and i'm using it to post this.

I'm on CM 10.1 bionic but AFAIK it's based on razr

I also see USB entitlement is set to ∅ by default... so we only need to change subscription_mode?

Its not working on yours? I did this hack on the 4.1.2 ota on my Maxx HD this morning, it works fine for me. I can help you if you would like to still do this.

I changed the 0 to a 1 on the subscription_ and didn't work

I actually pulled the OTA from droid life because 4.1.1 wasn't giving me the update so I installed via recovery from ext SD...

You changed the wrong one. You're supposed to change entitlement_check, not anything with subscription in it. Find entitlement_check, and change it from a 1 to a 0.

Change the subscription mode back to what it was before you changed it. Try it again after that and see, I think everything is right besides that however.

Kept changing the 0 to 1... 1 to a 0... anyways I left the #s the way u recommended and did a cache wipe and dalkvin cache from safe strap recovery, booted, good to go. THANK YOU GUYS

I have a Verizon RAZR MAXX HD rooted and running the stock firmware. I just completed the OTA to 4.1.2 and am still rooted. I have the entitlement check set to 0. But I can't get wifi tethering to work though. I've tried using barnacle wifi, wifi tether (every version of the app I can find), open garden, and the stock mobile hotspot app. No luck. I couldn't get tethering to work on 4.1.1 either. Tried it on my wife's RAZR MAXX HD and still get the same result. When I was rooting my phone, I had to roll-back to ICS first, so I actually tried FoxFi while I was on ICS. No luck with that either.

Here's the exact problem in every case: my Windows computer can connect to the phone fine, but I get no internet access from the computer. I've tried it with a computer running Windows 7 and another computer running Windows 8 without any luck.

I covered this on a Droid forums thread, but in short, the problem is that DHCP doesn't work. Assign your PC a static address in the subnet that you have set in the hotspot (192.168.1.xx by default), a gateway of xxx.xxx.xxx.1 and use the google dns servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and you will be good to go.
