Looks like the free wifi tethering from code.google.com works, choose wlan0 as the option, again caveat about vzw charging you.

It's also good to disclose if you are on an unlimited data plan, too. I am.

The usb tether I mentioned, didn't do an entitlement check on the last leak with the db hack. Now it does. Guess it's something to dive into. A lot of people use that for a single laptop, usb tether and charge the phone at the same time.... guess you could do the same with wifi, but just not the same :)

For those that require a usb tether, do the OP's steps, and then this modifiy and reboot:

58 tether_reverse_nat_enabled 0 -> 1

Finally figured it out and got it to work (typing from usb natted connection right now!).

It's 69 usb_entitlement_check 0, don't think I edited that one. Does that really need to be edited, too? I haven't dove into these settings, just did a cursory on a break today.

Sorry, different phones... different ids. Just wanted to make sure that didn't need edited also. Thank you for your help.

thank you. I edited the DB but haven't run it yet. I downloaded a tethering app from the Play Store, but was scared to use it since it was just an app that claimed to hide the tethering and with no settings to change.

Works great if you have limited data. Does the subscription check/deny if you are on unlimited.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions, It looks like i may have lost root. I downloaded a Root Checker and it says not rooted. I followed instructions using Voodoo OTA root program to keep root while upgrading to JB but it seems like it wasn't sucessfull restoring root.. Although the program needs root to run and it works for some odd reason. Thanks guys ill keep trying to check if i have root or not.

The original leaked OTA rooting processes failed to provide superuser privileges so what you need to do is root as per this link

The above post is incorrect. I removed the link that was in it as it directed you to the Droid Rzr xt912 root process. That would have more than likely bricked your Razr HD xt926.

Please post this question in the Razr xt912 help forum, and not in here. it can only add to the confusion.

Mine is also doing this, I turn on the tether using the app on code.google.com with the yellow wifi icon, and it enables tethering, then it comes up with a message "What the hell, your phone took back control of the wifi interface" and it disables. This happenes after about 10 seconds or so. I am also unable to connect to any normal wifi networks either... I try to enable wifi and it just disables itself after a few seconds. What the crap is doing that?

If your using the Google tethering app, this thread is not for that. If you apply these values , use the stock hotspot app that came on the device.

I did this to get Bluetooth tethering working with the native app. (I can't enable wifi at work.) It works for most stuff, but I can't connect to my imap email which uses SSL. Also no play store downloads or updates.
Those two things work if I use pdanet+.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Doug,
That's actually a good question. I'm not 100% sure TBH. My guess is its a security issue, what are you teathering ?

Oh, sorry about that, I am using the app on code.google.com

However, I did figure out what is causing this problem. I had been messing with my /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and apparently it got mad. So I deleted the file, and it generated a new one, and then I was able to paste in all of my wifi connections at the bottom of the newly generated file and my wifi worked again! I figured I would post up the solutioin in case anyone else is having that same problem. (Wifi will not enable, using the stock android control panel, you set to ON and it turns back to OFF in a few seconds)
