Good afternoon, fellow DroidRZR Mates.

I too have a Razr MAXX HD - that is running Android 4.1.2/Build 9.8.1Q-62_VQW_MR-2.  My question is - what are the benefits of Rooting?  I have rooted other devices (the OG Droid Droid Incredible, and the OG MAXX, but this one seems to cause me to question whether doing so really will improve my device.  I have always been a fan of CyanogenMod and had hoped to install their latest 10.1 RC version - as it has been a long time coming and offers some nice features missing in many of the other ROMS.  Other than being able to play with the guts of the unit... I can't find any rock solid reasons to justify rooting.  Any suggestions?

I also understand that I'd have to go back to ICS and then come back to .4.1.2 to go any further (4.2... 4.3....).  Is that true?

I eagerly await your collective counsel and reply!

Sandy

utility will help with your needs

You don't have to go back to ICS anymore for root

There are many root benefits including but not limited to Running root only apps, unlocking your bootloader, installing a custom recovery, installing custom roms, etc.
