This can be put together with the command that you posted, but one would have to have a locked bootloader and be willing to wipe the data completely off there device. The reason behind that is if a unlocked device does this the tz partition would be already modified and it might not load up properly. This program is basically a clean slate installer. I use the same process on my G2 to revert back to 4.2.2 from 4.4.2 and for unflagging the root status. Complete Stock .bin is fully recommended for this processes.

I'm okay with the data being wiped, as it had been wiped the day prior when I forgot, and still can't recall lol, the password used to encrypt my phone.  Would having an unlocked bootloader prevent this process from completing successfully (as my intent is to just gain access to fastboot and flash my phone with the 4.4.2 firmware)?  If it does prevent it due to the tz partition, is there any way around that would allow access to ap fastboot mode to flash?  

 

Do you have any insight into what I can do to get past the error i keep getting with the MPRG8960.hex file?

That's the bootloader.  (aboot on snapdragon based phones).  boot.img is the kernel. fsg is part of the modem. gpt is the partition table.

No.  TZ can be updated (or the same version flashed) on unlocked or locked bootloaders.  Makes no difference.  It's only downgrading it that's not possible.  Same with GPT partition.  However, I'll point out the obvious to you at this point....you do not currently have an unlocked bootloader.  Why?  Well, because you don't have a bootloader period at the moment.    The bootloader security works like this:  You turn on the phone, aboot and tz load up, checks an eFuse, and determines the status of the bootloader.  If it's blown, the bootloader skips loading in "secure mode".  Otherwise it does a normal secure boot chain, validating all partitions are signed along the way.  In your current state you have nothing but the metal, so to speak.  Download mode is there to reprogram it assuming you have the right files.  I've not seen anyone be successful with this.

As far as success, the only post I've come across with anyone being successful is the OP of the XDA post that I linked to in my second post on this thread.  From reading the 16 pages on that thread, it appears others with a Moto X were also successfully able to reflash once they bricked their phone into download mode with no gui.  There were a few threads here and there I've come across over the past 5 hours of XT926 users getting into the situation with no one being able to get out

 

In theory, if this works on a Moto X, it should work on an XT926.  It appears all have been hung on on the hex file, which I've know figured out how to finally get it made.  It requires QPST and you must use command line to access emmcswdownload.exe which is what compiles the files needed, per:

Although the above link directs how to create a msimage.mbn with emmcswdownload, this requires a MPRG hex file, of which has to be created with an eMMC flash programer [trace32 on linux with no windows version I can find; *there is a program developed by Microsoft called Trace32, however this is a logging application and is not the same as the linux program of the same name*) of which is not included in QPST 2.7 402.

Me and dhacker had a brief descussion on me trying this on my previous Motherboard., but unlike you I couldn't. even get a usb prop connection through either Windows nor terminal commands in Linux. Him and Sam would be the most knowledgeable people to ask these questions. Or even Hashcode if you can get a hold of them.

I have 2.7 build 402, which has the emmc downloader, but not the emmc flasher. Is this just a bad copy of QPST I have, or is the emmc flasher obtained separately?

By a complete stock.bin, what do you mean?  The reason I ask is I only have 3 bin files in the 4.4.2 firmware folder, unless this speaks to combining the 3 into 1 or possibly combining all the firmware files into a bin file?

The command takes all the needed partitions from the device and places them all is a single .bin file to be used with the blank flasher. If the tz partition isn't really that bad to use on a unlocked boot loader I could attempt creating one using mine tomorrow. It will be 4.4.2 and not 4.1.2.

Just so everyone's aware... once we get this figured out and working, I'll spend some time writing a decent tutorial; while this doesn't seem to be happening that often to XT926 users, it does seem to crop up a handful of times and this would at least provide clear steps for every part of the process that could then be used on different devices by just having someone dd the fs of the device in question.

If you or anyone else has to go through the hassle of backing everything up and flashing back to stock, I'll pay you for the hassle, as that's a decent amount of time to take to back up, flash back, dd, then restore all your data and accounts.  For whomever does it, let me know what you think is fair along with your paypal email and I'll get the money to you =]

Man I am doing it just to see if it works. Mine is a toy for me to flash so no worries on lossing data. My G2 is my daily user.
