XE_Nerd, I'm using the latest jbbl and with heavy use the battery is nearly drained at the end of the day. It would probably last 1.5-2 days with light use though.

Here's my question for everyone. Has anyone tried the built-in encryption? I started the process this morning and it's been encrypting for 2.5 hours now. I had it on the stock rom but the set up took less than an hour that time. As of now I have the lock screen and when I enter my pin I get the setup image.

Edit: I pulled the plug and restarted the phone. Looks like encryption didn't work but at least the phone is fine. I'll leave this here in case anyone else runs into this.

I've never run encryption before so couldn't say. So tonight I rooted stock JB 9.30.1 and installed the latest nightly for CM11 for JBBL. I'll post my diagnosis tomorrow as far as battery life. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as that's the only thing keeping me away from running the KK bootloader at this point with CM11 having all the major bugs getting worked out lately.

Here's something else to use. There is a new Xposed module that prevents the Google Play Services (which I've seen go nuts) from doing a wakelock every 60 seconds or something like that. I've installed it so I'm going to see how it goes. Usually, when my battery life sucks, when I check the stats, it's usually Google Play services that has gone nuts. I haven't seen it for awhile (I think Greenify helps somewhat), but I've installed this module so we'll see if it helps.

Last night, I unplugged my phone before going to bed (was fully charged) and after 8 hours, I still had 76% battery left after 8 hours. That seems to coincide with what I've seen where I can get about a day and half with normal usage.

Here's the Xposed module I was talking about:

Will try it. Trying to figure out how to upgrade after downgrading.

Ok, finally back to KK and the latest nightly of CM11 is updating. I'll get that exposed module installed tonight and see how it fairs for me tomorrow. I didn't have good luck in regards to battery life with the latest CM11 running a JB boot loader so thanks for giving me another option.

Today, I unplugged my phone and after 2 hours and 45 minutes, running the Xposed module I stated above, I was still at 100%. Mind you, this is running Gummy ROM (8-25 Nightly). Please see attached screen shots for proof.

This is on a Razr HD (non-MAXX) XT926. Now, granted I didn't use the phone much, if at all during those two hours, but usually, even when I don't use my phone for awhile, it would usually decrease a few within an hour.

At 50% after 11h 15m on battery on latest nightly for CM11, but this also includes my wife watching videos of my daughter's VB game for 20 minutes, so I'm pretty happy so far.

Didn't get the 2 hours of 100% like I did on Gummy, but I also discovered that Google+ was syncing my photos, so I stopped that. After that, I was getting pretty good battery life.

WiFi seems to work pretty good on CM11. From what I've heard, now Gummy is having WiFi issues. I did notice this morning that at home, WiFi this morning wasn't working.

Some have discovered that it appears to be an issue with D-Link routers. Mine is a Cisco/Linksys router at home. At work, it seems to have stabilized somewhat. Will keep monitoring.

Might have to go back to stock if WiFi doesn't get fixed on AOSP.

The WiFi issues OI've had on most ROMS are dropping signal when you get to the edges of the range. Where on JB the connection remains, but on KK it frequently disconnects.

When closer to the router it's pretty solid.

Yeah I also have the same issue with WiFi, JB has worked the best but hopefully cm11 will get to that reliability soon. Here is a pretty bad wakelock I'm having right now

So with the help of ibolski, here is what I've done to dramatically improve battery life to the same level as jelly bean. I've installed xposed framework and the modules I'm running for battery saving are:

1- AppOpsXposed

2- NlpUnbounce

In AppOps I've set google play services to not have permission to keep awake and set everything in NlpUnbounce to 600 seconds. I can now usually have 60% battery remaining with light use after about 12 hours. I haven't noticed any adverse effects from this setup as of yet. I'll try to remember to take screenshots of my battery life tonight.

Well, went back to stock (again) to try it out once more, but after being on CM11 for awhile, I got spoiled with the WiFi being stable under CM11. All I can say under stock (183.46.15), it was AWFUL. Dropped signals constantly at work, whereas under CM11, it was pretty stable.

The main reason I went back to stock (actually, the ONLY reason) is due to not being able to play videos directly in Google PlayMovies and TV under non-stock ROMs.

Back on the latest CM11 (20140905 nightly) and happy.

Im using jbbl, on the latest nightly. Every time I download a new app and add my account, it says "Exchange Services Has Stopped Working". Then things seem fine. What's up with that?

I just don't understand why some are having battery issues. This is on the latest nightly (20140909 for KK) and here is what my battery looks like so far. Remember, mine is just a lowly RAZR HD (not MAXX).

I'm running the following Xposed modules:

  • AppOpsXposed
  • Greenify
  • NlpUnbounce

So, I wonder how much of it is apps that are misbehaving? Definitely using Wakelock Detector helped me out, along with the battery stats. Then, I could Greenify apps that were doing many wakelocks.

Also, checking your syncing settings helps as well. I don't sync gmail (I do it manually). I do sync photos, contacts, app settings and so far, battery seems to last.
