Just tried it from SS 2.1. It was stuck at the boot screen -- just black, didn't go anywhere. Guess I should move to the next SS!

Yes, you should definitely move on to ss3. Not only is this rom worth it, but, ss3 is absolutely amazing. Just be sure to read up on how to use it as it is quite a bit different from previous safe strap versions.

This probably isn't the place but I was looking at it, and I'm slightly concerned with how to upgrade it. The steps Hash-of-Codes provides doesn't exactly match up with what I see so I'm slightly wary...should take the plunge though...

What? This is ice cream sandwhich peoples, Wizzed Bean is based off of Jelly Bean. This is a completely different rom not based off wizzed 1.5, just has the same look and feel?

I understand that...shouldn't I be able to restore just data to an app, or is touch whiz not the same since it is a launcher...I know I can't restore system data from jelly to ice and vise versa

Only restore app data, i never restore system data. The touchwiz launcher is different since this is ics. Titanium Backup should work for apps, but its not the rom if it doesn't work

U can get the favorite contacts to work by using different launcher. I use nova launcher.
I use the stock email app to connect to my MSN Hotmail account and it works great
