Has anyone else flashed 174? For some reason with the updater I keep getting the Android belly up.

Did you flash the 1.7.3 full zip?

I can't wait to try the utility.... though, I have to as my computer at work IS an XP machine!

I just noticed that.. Guess that's another reason ( besides me breaking a few things) that my testing kept failing.. The laptop I do all my theme stuff on is XP..looking for a win7 for cheap.. Mine is starting to cry whenever Photoshop is started.

Has anyone else flashed 174? For some reason with the updater I keep getting the Android belly up.

If it's the same one I was sent a few days ago...it's been fine on my test Bionic.. Not sure what's up.

Thanks for building an awesome Rom! However, with this rom and all the other roms I've tried, my android OS on my phone is still consuming around 35-50 percent of the battery. Thus with the extended battery, I can barely get a day's use out of it. This leads me to think its probably a hardware issue, but my question is, would installing Autokiller Memory Optimizer mess with some of the "tweaks" of this rom, or would you recommend giving it a shot? I've installed it on past roms (Eclipse, Blurry Maxx, etc.) and it has sometimes helped with this situation.

i was a big believer in "killer" apps until i read up more on them...it seems that phones are different then computers, meaning that high ram usage is good...you dont have to believe me lol but its true. if your ram starts running out and you try to open a new app and you dont have enough then your phone actually finds the least used app running and shuts it down. your phone will run faster and use less battery if you let the apps run that you use all the time. the reason for this is that when you open an app that isnt running then the phone has to load it (using battery) plus a lot of the apps auto restart after you kill them (using more battery) so your best bet is to let the phone do its job and try to find the app thats running in the background, draining your battery, and delete it completely. its a pain to find the culprit but its do-able. hope this helps! :)

So I just got an OTA update to 1.7.4 and all is well except that I can't seem to find the new "killer utility" mentioned in the changelog. Also, it added SuperSU to my phone, but also kept Superuser there as well, isn't Superuser supposed to be gone after you "swapped" to SuperSU?

no the update was to prep your phone for the utility...the actual utility is in the 2nd post. and check if there is a superuser app in data/app folder...if there is then delete it. my update deleted the one out of system app but if you restored a backup or something after flashing the rom then it might have put one in data. also, if you are looking at the app name in system/app and saw that it says superuser.apk, its because the supersu that i put in was named superuser.apk for some reason...i think prstorero named it that lol sorry for the confusion

OHHHHH. Well, I apologize for misunderstanding. When you said "killer app" at first I thought it might be a way to help improve battery life... :P

I didn't restore anything after flashing, I just installed the new update via OTA and they are both there.

Not having much luck so far. In have been running Eclipse 1.2.1 without any issues. I have safestrap 3.11, downloaded icarus 1.7.4, flashed and now my phone is doing all sorts of funky things. not smooth at all and layout is a little weird to me. Rebooting to see if this makes things better. I find the safestrap option of being able to have more than one custom rom installed is awesome. As long as it actually works without bogging down my memory.

I flashed the Google Now remover and now my search button doesn't do anything. Long press brings up voice search however. Any suggestions? I see Googlequicksearchbox.apk was installed in the app folder but for some reason the soft key does not launch it.

If you want help then ask nicely... If not don't come here anymore cause telling us our rom sucks doesn't help us fix it.

I'm gunna check on this when I get home today... Maybe I screwed up the script or something. Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately this is a known issue and it is with every gnow to Google search reversion that anyone has made... I tried like crazy to get it to work but the only way is to wipe data when flashing and no one really wants to do that lol sorry

If anyone feels like it that is having the both superuser and supersu issue, can you try wiping system cache and dalvik, not data, and flash the full 1.7.4 then let me know how everything works? I'd really appreciate it :-)
