You're flashing the wrong FXZ. Go look in the forum here for the proper file. It's build 15. You can't downgrade to 10.

Ok... so got build 15 and gave it a whirl. Process seemed to start fine, with RSD Lite kicking off and a message saying 2/17 flash sbl1 "sbl1.mbn", the progress bar moving along and "in process" under the Result section. This goes for about a minute, then RSD Lite and everything else basically stops. There was a brief message flashed up before it quit but I couldn't see what it said. Any ideas come to minds...? There were no other messages on the phone itself, which had been showing connected and battery OK. Thanks...

HI... please see below for the SWDL log from the last few tries I had at this. The first one is likely when I was using the incorrect FZX file. Last couple of tries were with the correct build 15 you directed me to. Does this reveal anything to you? THANKS.

Ensure you are using the original OEM USB cable that came with your phone, the latest Moto USB driver is installed, and potentially try another USB port that is NOT USB 3.

Hey good news... I surmised from the SWDL log that there might have been a USB cable issue. I swapped it out for one from another XT926 we have in the family and sure enough, it flashed ok to build 15, then re-booted fine. Success! All is well and it even saved much of my son's data (can't find the pictures for some reason but they were backed up to Facebook too). Thanks again VERY MUCH for your help on this one and the service you provide to all of us!

Ok it flashed via RSD but I don not have the SWDL.txt
in the RSD directory. On top of that I have the sticky bit issue.
I downloaded the ADB tool, installed it in C:windows directory then entered fastboot .... etc, said finished in .00 seconds
but I am still stuck in sticky bit issue and IM not able to show you what was going on. NOw I am at No valid pin block is SP system
pin validation failed (system)
Fastboot REason Boot failure
usb connected

Ok here is where I am at, it seems like when I switched from the windows 8.1 to the backup to 7 professional I thing things went smoothly. On topof that fiasco I caused was that I had 5.7 RSD Lite instead of the 6...... I switched to that as well and am able to print the log file

Once your unlocked I would look for the post for TWRP 2820 for your phone and flash the custom recovery. Make sure the fastboot screen shows "unlocked status 3" you can regain root anytime by flashing supersu zip file through a custom recovery.) If you want to upgrade to the latest version of kitkat you can flash it with the same method as you did to get to the .10 version. All you have to do then is re flash the TWRP recovery and the supersu. I have been on the .15 version since it has come out and now with the changes chainfire has made to supersu I get updated through the playstore, and no more update notices
