Hey halo, I have "an error occurred" when I open YouTube and can't sign in either, not sure what's wrong

Other than that, this is a legit ROM!

Unfortunately that is a Google issue.

I am thinking this is rom related. My girlfriends maxx on stock does not have this issue. It only started appearing after I flashed evolution 5.1 and updated YouTube.

I believe it is also related to the screen capture I posted on the other page. There is some account validation issue.

Plus the comments on the app do not reflect this issue.

Okay since there's a multiple suggestions, I'll try to flash this ROM on another slot and see if it still occurs. If it is, I'll flash another ROM to see if it happens as well or not. Can't commit on the time but I should be able to give an update in a day or two, if you're interested

I got curious and ended up doing my experiment just now. Based on my results, I think the youtube issue is ROM related. I did the following to prove it:
  • Created a new slot on safestrap and installed Droid HD 1.2
  • uninstall the existing youtube through tibu and install the latest copy from play store
  • signed in with no issue
  • went back to recovery, factory reset and installed Evolution 5.1
  • installed the latest youtube and sign in error occured
One possibility is that my copy of ROM is corrupted since I downloaded it through 4G. However, do note that this is the only problem I notice within the ROM. I will try to redownload it on my PC and find out if it is still happening

The YouTube app is not included in Evolution 5.1. I am using 5.1 and haven't had an issue with YouTube or saving Google settings in the browser app so i'm not sure what could be going on. From 5 to 5.1 there weren't any significant changes that would affect any apps. This is a mystery to me.

Seems like I can't get 5.1 to flash on my RAZR no matter what. Downloaded is several times now and been getting "unable to open zip file" on every single download. Downloaded using IE, Opera, and Chrome on my PC. Even downloaded directly to my RAZR and getting the same result. Frustration. :(

After you download the zip check the MD5 and see if it matches the one I have listed. It sounds like a corrupt download. I downloaded it this morning and everything was okay. Let me know what happens.

The same happened to me when I updated YouTube! So I flashed Eclipse 1.5 and the same thing happened! This has got to be a Google issue is my best guess??

Downloaded again to my RAZR. Installed fine this time around. Yeah must of been multiple bad downloads that happened to me across both my RAZR and on my PC. Weird.

I am able to login to youtube just fine. Although if I go to youtube.com and try and watch a video, it doesn't load. So I'm not sure whats up with that.

Google issues guys, there's nothing to be confused about. There is nothing that I can do to fix this, it's up to Google to do that.

Guys try running "fix permissions" in safestrap. I had some problems signing in to google apps and this fixed the issue. no problems with youtube.
