Hi folks,
First off, fantastic forum. Of course, with so much information, it can be very time consuming to dig for information which i have for the most part. But, there is some advice that only a response can help with.
I have a XT926 4.1.2 which i've been quite happy with and I have a grandfathered unlimited verizon data plan and an external SD, which I want. For the most part, it does everything i wanted stock and I use Foxif for tethering and everything is dandy. Well, 4.4.2 update came along and I researched and made sure not to update. I rooted 4.1.2 to avoid my kid from mistakenly hitting "yes" to the update and freeze it. Now, through the wonders of this informational forum, I have found out that I have the ability to not be locked out of things I so dearly love. So below, i have questions.
1. Should I upgrade to 4.4.2, unlock bootloader then go back to 4.1.2 for my hotspotting?
2. If I go 4.4.2 and unlock and root, will I be able to hotspot or do I need to go back to 4.1.2
3. Is 4.4.2 really worth updating to if I don't lose functionality? What am I missing?
3. Now that the cat is out of the unlock bag, is there custom roms that are worth while and will development start back up on what is considered and obsolite phone? What about bug lists for roms as when I researched, I noticed some have bugs like loss of sd functionality, camera, wifi and connectivity issues etc.
So folks, what direction should I go? Thanks for the wealth of information and the continued enjoyment of my XT926
