Ok, I have one question. Looking at all the files the direction say to install I can't find the last one:

o) Install the Moto Device Manager (driver):

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(9.x).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_FXZ_(x.x.xxx).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_RSD_(x.xx).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(xxx).exe for the updates you want support for <---I don't see this file anywhere.

I also don't see the CDTParser.exe file anywhere. Is it safe to assume the security for .246 matches?

Hey Sami. I used HoB 9 to install the FXZ 246, because I couldn't get the OTA to work.

Install appeared to go as expected. Upon final reboot - I heard the Droid start up sound, but I have no image on my screen.

The buttons presses appear to be registering, the soft buttons vibrate when pressed, the power button turns the back light off and on(no image appears on screen though). Also the internal and external memory is accessible when plugged in via USB.

Any thoughts?

FIXED:
I had to use RSD Lite v5.6 with the FXZ 246 from here -

It's working fine now.

The only differences in the FXZ's is the 1.3GB vendor.img - why is this left out of yours?

You don't see the last file because there aren't any updates right now.

Because it's not needed. It's webtop.

This one's interesting. Bootlooping like that implies corrupt data. I'm going to give you specific instructions and if they don't work you might be the only one stuck til an fxz comes out. Sadly this is going to wipe your data partition.

O) boot the phone into ap fastboot mode
O) load up the house
O) on the utility menu use the factory reset option
O) If the phone reboots put it back in AP fastboot mode
O) Use the reinstall option starting at the flash step

See what happens. Note that the update must be on your sdcard before you do this. Since the phone isn't booting you'll have to pull the sdcard and manually copy it there if it's not already. I'll need specific info if this fails.. Copy the output of the flash step, any errors you get, etc. I'll see what I can do to help.

Once we have .246 installed, and are back on the OTA path, is HoB - for the most part - in our rear view?

Depends on what you use it for. I can tell you that for many of us it's a tool that will continue to be used. It's now setup perfectly for jb leaks. The big difference is that I'm not going to bother with people that fail to read going forward. I don't have the time or patience to walk people through a process that, let's face it, is as simple as it can possibly be. Whether people choose to continue to use it or not is up to them. The fxz is out there now so people can use that if they're more comfortable. Personally I feel the house has more functionality and flexibility than the fxz by itself.

This answered my question. I wasn't sure if leaks past .246 would be added.

This implies that your continued efforts will support those who decide to thwart the official update path, and use HoB as the equivalent.

Support is a strong word. That presupposes that if someone does something wrong and breaks their phone that I'll help fix it. That is no longer the case. I dedicated 4 months of time to doing that. It's a bit much. 99% of the issues are user error. Not reading, not following directions, making assumptions that are incorrect, etc. I don't have time to hand hold people through this process anymore. That being said I do want to serve the community. The HoB was designed to be self sufficient as the code is completely dynamic. People don't need me to add anything. I didn't even really need to release an fxz installer. All people had to do was download the official one, create a 246_FXZ dir, and drop in the files. Done. Same with updates going forward. The HoB has the ability to handle new updates as needed. Create a xxx dir, drop in the update with xxx added to the filename, run the HoB and it detects the update and adds support for it automagically. That's the real magic behind what I created.

No problem. If it doesn't work we may have to get more creative but I'm pretty close to out of ideas since that's the equivalent of a full 246 FXZ.

It didn't work. :D

I've tried the newest version of HoB (9.0) with the 246 FXZ file, and even tried the straight 246 FXZ from RSDLite 5.7. It still gets stuck on the Droid logo screen (just the text "Droid" after the Motorola M). I'll try the USERSD version next after I charge the phone again. I'm not sure if that will help though since RSD worked fine flashing the 905 version.

A few more notes:
  • On the Recovery screen it shows the little Android guy on his back with an exclamation mark in a red triangle hovering over him. Is this the normal recovery screen? I don't remember what it looked like before this happened.
  • The phone doesn't have a SIM card since I'm not using it as a phone at the moment. The camera doesn't function either. It was broken when I bought it from eBay. I thought maybe it might be looking for either of those things to continue, but it wasn't an issue when I've flashed it through RSD in the past or when I initially upgraded it during the soak test.
Anything else I should try? Or did I just royally screw it up when I tried to flash it back to 905 after the soak test initially?

Thanks for your help!

Oh, when I used the HoB FXZ option, I did it with the Factory Reset option.

Get the full 246 fxz and flash it with RSD. If that doesn't work sad to say but there's nothing further I know of to try.

9.1 WINDOWS RELEASE

o) New flash mode toggle and persistence
o) Added WEBTOP installer to add webtop flashing support (optional)

NOTES:

No more USExxx files to toggle flash mode. On first start of 9.1 it'll ask you to pick your flash mode preference. It'll
persist that to an ini file. There is a flash mode toggle on the main menu to allow you to easily switch now.

Just a note to people having issues. I would recommend RSD as the flash mode of choice. That is my preferred mode when flashing. If that doesn't work, then toggle it to fastboot mode and try again. Also, if you install the webtop installer, the FULL FXZ will flash webtop if it's there. Otherwise if you want to flash it manually, use the repair webtop option on the utility menu.

I should clarify that webtop in FULL FXZ comment...that happens in fastboot mode. It won't in RSD mode as I didn't think about it.
