HoB will give you the option to root after the update. If you didn't just run HoB again and choose the root option. :)

Perhaps you might want to give all the details of what you've done to the phone to get it to that point. What update is on your sdcard that can be applied?

Let's go at this in a different direction since ultimately you want to be back on the OTA path with 246. So rather than what's on your sdcard, are you able to pull the sdcard and put another file on it without a working phone? Card reader? Other phone you can use temporarily?

I was on 232. I saw that u needed everyone to go to 246 since it was going to be the official release. So I used House of bionic to wipe to 905 factory reset. then i went to go to try to install 246 using hob and now I get the ap boot failure. Today with the help of someone else on the forums I tried to get it to alteast get to 905 and it wouldn't. I can't factory reset it. When I hold down the power button and top and bottom volume and select recovery it goes back to ap fastboot and thats it. I even made a flashme folder on the dekstop and ran things through the command prompt and it still didn't help. Any and all help is appreciated thank you

Then why are you talking about 235? UGH.

o) Uninstall the HoB
o) Install 8.4, FXZ, RSD, and 246 support installer in that order from the OP
o) Copy the 246 update zip from the 246 directory to your sdcard
o) Verify the md5 signature matches on the sdcard and the 246 directory
o) Put the sdcard back in and boot to AP Fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down)
o) Load up the HoB
o) Select 246
o) Select Repair AP Fastboot ERROR
o) Keep the phone in AP Fastboot when it finishes
o) Run the HoB again
o) Select 246
o) Select REINSTALL (note REINSTALL not INSTALL)
o) Select N to transfer, N to check hash, N to reboot
o) Select Y to flash
o) Follow on screen directions, report any errors in flashing (you MUST carefully watch the output of the flash steps for errors and paste them here if any occur)
o) When prompted after flashing, boot into recovery and apply the 246 update
o) Wipe the cache
o) Reboot
o) Root as needed if desired

Do this EXACTLY as I've outlined and your phone will be fixed with 246 and no data loss.

Ahh, the joys of support.

For future reference: Anyone, and I mean anyone reading this thread and attempting to use HoB to get onto whatever leak / OTA they want, and something goes wrong, don't go to another site to get further help from someone who may not know anymore than you do!

It's just common sense.

If you don't have a few hours to devote to this and are not an expert, don't just jump in unless you read very very carefully - which, if you don't have the time to do, you should not be using the utility. Period.

No cause each case has unique circumstances. I have to gauge the user's level of experience and tailor my answer and steps to that. It's why I usually succeed.
