Okay, I'll most liekly get one of those, and try to keep track of it, Someone in my family is bound to screw up their phone, or if I get to lazy while trying to update one of their phones, as they all come to me for it.

Just for a point of reference, I zipped up the 905 FXZ without grfs.img (webtop) and it's down to about 450 megs. IOW, slightly larger than an update zip. So when the 246 FXZ comes out, I'm going to package it without the grfs.img file and provide that as a separate download for those who think they need it. 99% of you don't. This will save a bunch of space, bandwidth, and most importantly, time. Not having to flash grfs.img cuts flashing time in half or more. The RAZR guys have already gone this route, as well.

I got mine in a week or less. I haven't yet used it cause battery life is so damn good on my Bionic I'm never at a point where I stress about it. It's ONLY to be used in AP Fastboot flashing. Not to transfer updates and not to root. Just for flashing.

Yes, I understand, but its better to have it and be safe then having to wait a week. I have a extended battery for my Bionic, so with my heavy usage it makes it quite well, I had a normal battery, but after I moved I have no idea where that went, and don't want to spend $35 to get a battery I would only use in a *Low Battery, Unable to Program* time.

Yup. I agree. And while this generally doesn't work, I just used the factory adapter with my OEM cable to transfer the 246 update and verify the md5. So, that's kinda kuel. I guess use it unless it causes you a problem.

I've yet to buy the adapter but I bought their cable and stuck it in the emergency drawer (with flashlights, candles and matches). "Be prepared"

I have the cable, as well. I think that's going to get thrown in my car. I have an adapter in my laptop bag, and one sitting out here next to my xoom dock. Chance favors the prepared.

I realize we are getting a bit off topic here, but since you guys are talking about batteries it got me thinking... I have an extended battery and love battery life, but Im thinking about breaking out my OG and charging it up just to compare. Anyone else do this?

I gave it to a friend of mine for his wife but apparently the usb port broke and it'd no longer charge. Poor Droid.

Sigh.

That whole grfs.img flashing $#!7 that we went through - now you understand why I was asking about some sort of a progress bar / music / whatever while that was going on...

I think your current solution to just not include it would be best lol.

I know but there's no way once you hand off the command to moto-fastboot to get any kind of progress. ADB is the same. So, this is the best I can come up with.

well i have been able to get past the boot failure and it took me to recovery and started to install update from sd card. But this is where it aborted. same as last time. I have not closed anything the phone is still plugged in and the command prompt still up waiting to continue. There is no swdl.txt file to copy.

By now you should know enough to post more info. Like the EXACT error you're getting when the update fails to apply. I can't help by guessing. It just wastes time.

Jesus. Ok, you got the same bull$#!7 going on as our other friend. You are LUCKY that sarge is good to us. Use the new Repair RADIO option I put in. When it's done, boot into recovery and apply the update. Then you're done.
