Ok, recopying the files over, and then listening to what you told me to do, i.e. redoing the flash step, solved my problems. Thanks for your patience.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but will ask it anyway. I did a FDR on the phone before installing. I had my external sd card encrypted. I assume I cannot recover those encrypted items now. Can I just format it like any other external drive I plug into USB on my computer?

Yea, you should be able to format it no problem. Glad you got this sorted out!

Hi SamurihL;

I FXZ'ed back to .905 from .232 LiquidBLUR ROM in order to receive the OTA. I think I lost ROOT access during this process. But I dont wanna wait for the OTA anymore. Do you have instructions on how to manually update to .905 --> .246? I can't seem to find it in this thread. Thanks in advance.

Windiddy.

The very top of the very first post (IOW, the first thing you should have already read) is as follows:

WARNING: Some of these answers may offend you. I have a sense of humor. Sorry.

This FAQ will be updated as needed.

(Apparently it needs to be pointed out that this FAQ applies to ICS builds...)

NOTICE: 6.7.246 is the official ICS OTA update. EVERYONE using the House of Bionic needs to either upgrade or downgrade to 246 ASAP.

Q: I'm on some build other than 6.7.246 and I need to up/downgrade. How the hell do I do that?
A: Use the 246 INSTALL option. Yes, even if you are on 247. Yes, do it. Stop arguing with me and just go do it! If it fails, use the 246 REINSTALL option.

NOTE: Apparently it's not clear to some people....KEEP THE DAMN UPDATE ON YOUR SDCARD-EXT UNTIL I SAY OTHERWISE.

<snip>

I'm pretty sure that covers exactly what you're asking for. Hence Sam's terse reply.

OK, now that we know this is the OTA I'm gonna redo my OC in my weird individualistic way that gives me slots at 333, 666, 966, and 1233, de-odex/manual debloat, and make a new nandroid

Shouldn't that be 999 (for fun)?

I've had a long day of stupidity today and I can honestly say my patience are running thin. Especially for people who don't ____ing read.

Installing the House Of Bionic:

o) Install the Moto Device Manager (driver):

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(8.x).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_FXZ_(x.x.xxx).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_RSD_(x.xx).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(xxx).exe for the updates you want support for

You don't even have all the files you need, and it TELLS YOU how to install it in the OP. People who fail to read get on my bad side real quick. Cause if you can't be bothered to read how to install it, God forbid what's going to happen when you get to the USAGE part of the OP you didn't read...

Whiner

WARNING: I just want to put out a general warning cause my patience is seriously getting on the thin side today. If people don't read, and do stupid $#!7 with their phone cause they aren't paying attention I'm PROBABLY going to help, but, my attitude about it is going to get worse and worse as time goes on. And trust me, as people have discovered, I have a bad attitude some days. So my warning is this....read everything. TWICE. Assume NOTHING. FOLLOW directions. As intelligent questions that are not blatantly answered in the OP or the FAQ, and we won't have a problem. Otherwise, just be prepared that you may not like the answers you get.../WARNING

Like you're evernice to people :P

It's not a huge deal, I'll just put her back in the box until I can get this figured out. I knew something silly would happen when I finally broke down and did it. Not a huge deal, I'll just go back to using my Nexus. I wonder if anyone else has had the issue.

Edit: I wiped cache, the only thing I haven't done was factory reset, and I'm not looking to do that unless I absolutely have to, there are SMS/MMS that are on there that I'd like to retain and since I use Titanium Backup to save that stuff.. yeah..

I missed some of your posts, but for posterity's sake (and this post is for eveyone reading):

If you are coming from GB to ICS for the first time, or you are coming to OTA (246) from a leak below .235 for the first time, I highly recommend that you perform a Factory Data Reset.

You'll thank me when you stop having stupid little idiosyncracies here and there, and your battery life seems to improve, yada yada yada (after, of course, you curse me for having to install all thos eapps again).

If you're rooted,, using TiBu can help, but I recommend that you manually install the apps from Play store and only restore data for critical apps that you need to.

Just trust me on this - I went though a lot of $#!7 with .235 and I finally broke down and performed that FDR - and it cleaned up a lot of idiosyncracies.

Just so you guys know once the 246 FXZ comes out, I'm removing webtop flashing from all options including the FXZ and REINSTALL options. The reason for this is that webtop is not going to be changed again. I'll provide the grfs.img file as a separate download (meaning my FXZ installer for 246 is going to be smaller and custom but all you really need for HoB). This will make things smaller and faster going forward. And no....doing this does not REMOVE webtop from your phone. sigh. :)

Completely agreed. That's why it's in the part of the OP where it says "how do I ask for help". LOL! I can't fix things without the proper info. "I got an error" or "it didn't work" definitely does nothing to help anyone. So I appreciate you asking for them to post more info.

No problem. Just figured you would ask anyhow lol. I didn't want to overstep your methods though.

*I* have already done so numerous times. Trust me, the desire to get an FXZ asap is very well known by those who can do so for us. :)

8.3 is incoming shortly. I took a page from the RAZR util and changed webtop flashing. I think this will make people happy. Should be up in 30 or so.

I was happy to see that you got DrJ's problem fixed as it was identitcal to mine. So I proceeded to uninstall 8.1, then reinstalled 8.2 and followed the instructions for REINSTALLING 246 for manually having it on the sdcard ext. It Started and completed sending and installing the system till it stopped responding for a while, the computer and phone were both frozen and I could not even access the device manager on the computer. I cant see it connecting in RSD 5.7 now, and seems really bricked now. It turns on to the Moto Dual Core screen for 15seconds or so, then goes black indefinitely with the screen and all buttons illuminated. Am I totally f*d now? And we didn't bother to reading the release notes for 8.2. Awesome. If you had, you'd know that RSD isn't used now. And that I need to see the output from the flash step (copy it from the House of Bionic cmd window) so that I can see what happened. When you thought it was "frozen" is likely when it was trying to flash webtop. So now you got even more work to do. Get 8.3 and do the same process again. It'll not flash webtop this time. Pay attention to the screen and if it gives any errors on the flashing screen, I need to see them. The RSD swdl.txt file is only useful for those who manually switch back to RSD flashing mode.

This is a different problem. The "copied update to the sdcard-ext manually" part is what concerns me. You're going to have to pull the sdcard from the phone and recopy the update to it. Manually verify the md5 this time. It very likely didn't copy correctly. You'll need another phone or sdcard reader to get the update on there. Once it's there correctly, boot into recovery and apply the update. If it fails again, I need the whole error 7 message.

(And yes, I still wanna see the swdl.txt file output)

Hello sorry for the delay. I posted last night early morning late. I work a night shift so I have been sleeping all day. I appreciate the response. Here is the file. I am sure I screwed something up. I take all responibility. I know just enough to be dangerous :D BUt hey I cant learn with out breaking some stuff I guess. No worries. Again thank you for all you do.

Right you're in a pretty screwed state right now. Ok, update to 8.3, find my 8.2 release notes post (lol), and follow the directions in that post. That'll fix you up.

(For the record, bzbionic's issue is further proof why webtop flashing MUST ____ING DIE. Because it takes SOOOOOO long he thought his machine had frozen when in fact it was simply trying to transfer a 1.2 *GIG* file over to the bionic to flash it. UGH. That $#!7's history.)

Ok thanks. Ill give that a try. Just to clarify. I need to redownload the update and manully paste it to the root of the SD card? And then manully verify the MD5. (just choose that option in the command or is there more I have to do?)

If you can't boot the phone it's not going to be able to do it from the menu option. LOL. So yes, that's all manual.
