Ok, I am using the 247 update. Do I need to downgrade to 246?
Why are you asking this? I think I made my feelings clear in the OP and the FAQ on this point. You decide whether you want to remain off the OTA path or not.
To anyone else thinking about asking this question....don't. I warned yesterday I'm not in the mood for it. This is the nicest reply anyone's going to get asking this question...

NO!! It is WE who are thanking you! (At least I am)BTW, I'd like to thank the House of Bionic users who've supported me over the past 4+ months. It's been a wild ride, and while I couldn't guarantee I could get people back to the OTA path I was pretty damn sure I'd be able to. Here we are sitting on OTA day and sure enough, we've been able to get ourselves on OTA and have had it for several weeks now. The House has been truly battle tested over the months with 11 leaks. We have a Linux/Mac version for those who prefer those OS'. Quite the trip we've had. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks.
Anyway, last night I took both my wife's and my Bionics from 247 back to 246. FWIW, on 247 her phone would go from 100% battery to 60% overnight. Last night, after downgrading to 246, it went from 100% to 90%.
Again, THANKS to SamuriHL - you da man!

I am currently on .232. I want to be on the cleanest path. Do I HOB/FXZ back to 905 and then take the update? And if so, why do you say to not attempt to keep data? If I understood correctly, your scripts keep data through FXZs?
OR do I HOB to 246 directly, and would that upgrade the same way as someone who's never messed with his phone and taken the update?
What's the advantage of one vs the other?

The last time I took a collapsible type, it blew inside out. Did any of your other users have that happen? I don't know what I could have done to the umbrella to make it do that, and the manufacturer says it's wind-proof, so I think your script must have had something to do with it. How do I fix that?
Jesus, people, RTFM. I don't understand how Sam has the patience to answer so many repeated and inane questions, but we're lucky to have the support we do -- seeing as neither our carrier nor device maker really give two $#!7s. The least we can do is take 10 minutes to read the instructions.

On the same note, not all of us are technically advanced with this stuff like you and some of the others. In the technology world, there is no such things as "dumb" questions. People ask questions so they can try to understand or make sense out of conflicting answers or worries. Many of us don't want to take the chance of "bricking" our phones, so we turn to the forums to ask open questions in hopes that a kind person will answer. That is what forums are for anyway.
As I used to tell my students, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Only dumb people asking questions.

or you could have just read the Old Post with Sam's updated information and instructions, I can assure you that we all appreciate your work. People ask questions, and you snap back with an attitude that is not necessary, people are only here trying to learn or not make a critical mistake. You released a 247 update, which many of us are on now, Verizon is releasing OTA the 246 version. So this does raise concerns to the untrained person of what to do, or what that actually means. This is not trying to "piss" you off or make you have to answer with an attitude. Again, appreciate your hard work and all the information.
This made me giggleSam, it may rain in my area today. I'm not sure whether I should take an umbrella or not. If I do, should I take a collapsible umbrella or a big golf umbrella? If I take the big one, will I be future-proofed against thunderstorms, or just covered for regular showers?

Do you have any advice or information about the 246 zip files on our SD Card now that the OTA is going out? i.e. can we safely remove them? or not?
Thanks

Sam - this was asked on the Moot thread and I don't believe I saw it in the FAQs

Do you see an FXZ? NO? Until you do you'd best not remove the update zip else I can't fix your phone when you brick it. FXZ is not out yet. I just had that conversation about 10 minutes ago.

Thanks - though you might want to add that to your FAQ.
So now we wait, for the FXZ, and further news about the final fate of the Bionic.

You mean:
o) PLEASE leave the update for the version you're installing on your sdcard-ext. It's required by the REINSTALL option in case you can't boot your phone
isn't clear enough? sigh.

Wonder what that means on the future of getting any additional support?

Yes and no. Sadly others have missed that as well. What I was thinking about/suggesting was this:
Q: Now that the 246 OTA is out, do I need to keep the 246 Zip file on my SDCard?
A: Until we get the 246 FXZ file, I strongly recommend you keep that zip file on your SDCard, without it I can't help you fix your phone when/if you brick it.
