Yea and Reserved Name is working through the Mac issues, as well. I don't have a Mac so I had no way to test it. But, he's making good progress so far. I'm hoping the last problem for Mac is now fixed.

Yea not bad for 3 days. LOL! :) The windows script is getting an overhaul now, as well. The Linux script forced me to make it more modular which I like. I can do the same in Windows which will make it easier for me to maintain. No functionality changes but a cleaner script for me to work with. I've been slowly getting there but a total rewrite for Linux really gave me some clarity.

You're welcome. And just so people who might not "get it" don't start pissing me off over here like they did on DF, removing the FLASHING of webtop != removing webtop. I had stupid people refusing to update the HoB cause "OMG I need and use webtop and you took it out!" WTF...

I just made a great post about why it is not needed and why it would be needed here:

Anyone complains, point them to that post. If they still don't understand, f'em.

Man the mods over there hate you man... can't figure that out..

They've always been like that. For one, 8 months after I joined, one of the mods over there all of a sudden told me that linking to my NSFW galleries of mostly Gothic Art pics for use as BGs for the OG DROID was not cool - 8 friggin months after the links had been up and after 3 other mods had all (along with many users) thanked me for the links.

I stopped going over there as a rule.

Tell me about it. This would be the third time someone's whined about my tone and they get all over my case about it. I'd love to see ANY of them step into my shoes for a day. Seriously, one day. That'd shut them up.

When you have people like the few individuals that you and I both have gotten into arguments with, multiplied by 10K, well, you get the picture....

That's why you'll always figure out the good sites - the ones I continue to post at are either 1) Extremely far ahead of hte curve, b/c they have extremely excellent and intelligent developers who know their stuff, or 2) Actually give a rat's arse about the end users themselves.

XDA is probably the one exception - but I still post over there because they really and truly supersede just about every forum I visit when it comes to point 1.

no joke.. dude, youre like instant bionic tech support....

Even with that F Thee! attitude :P

Yea, Reserved Name and I are working on Mac HoB bugs right now. He found one that I hopefully fixed. Waiting to hear back from him if the fix works. But I have to leave for a bit.

As soon as he posted about not being able to use apt-get I knew what you had done. This might cause problems on other systems that also don't use apt - those not Debian based, like Gentoo, LinuxFromScratch and Arch, among others (although, truly, if you're using something like Gentoo / LFS / Arch, you probably don't need pre-built scripts in the first place lol).

Actually I suspect you don't. The apt-get is only for 64 bit linux users. It's to install a library that's needed to allow 32 bit apps to run (like, say, adb). He was on a Mac and hence doesn't need it anyway. I've updated the README about it.

Hell yea. I think you'd be impressed with what I did in 3 days. I'm rewriting the windows version to model how I wrote the Linux version so it'll be easier to maintain. When I release 7.8 either later tonight or tomorrow there won't be functionality changes aside from a typo fix and additional dumbass instructions for dealing with recovery, but, the script is SO much cleaner and easier to read. So far I completely broke the menuing in the wnidows version. I'm off to a GREAT start. LMAO!

I personally like 7.7 myself. Since I manually copy the contents over (since I always make a backup of hte SDCard prior to flashing, JIC) When it asked for me ot transfer the file, I said no, then it asked to verify the file already on the SDCard, that impressed me to no end.

Now, to rain on your parade: Have the batch file check if file exists and if it does automatically check MD5 - if it matches, then give the user the option to copy file (again), stating file already exists (and has been verified) on SDCard, or move on to flashing time.... :D

The less user input, the better IMO. As it is, though, with the idea to use RSDLite instead of moto-fastboot, coupled with redundancy checks and hash checks, this thing is damned near fool proof - but, you, sir, know as well as I do, that when you build a better foolproof app, a better class of fool will show your app up....

They've been coming out of the woodwork like carpenter ants, so, yes, trust me I know. However there's a flaw in your logic and why I didn't implement it that way. John bricks his phone and needs to do a reinstall. He says no to transfer, but, I see the file and attempt to check the hash on the sdcard. UH OH, you're only able to boot into AP Fastboot and I have no idea about that, so, I start up ADB looking for a phone I'll never find. ;) My design patterns aren't without a lot of thought. :)

ifexist is there for a reason lol....

Your reasoning makes sense, but ifexist would prevent a lot of sitting around waiting if it cannot find the file - it would just move on.

Of course, if you can only boot into AP Fastboot in the first place, the first two items are moot anyway.....

If the file doesn't exist, you have no menus. ;)

The menus are tied to what's local. But the scenario of they can't boot their phone means they need to be able to skip anything that touches the phone until flashing. Even checking for the phone is enough to hang the script.

I lied about having no functionality changes in 7.8. It's not finished yet but when it is I think some people will be quite amazed. I always like giving people options and I think the new one will certainly help a few people. It should be out later today.

Awesome.

In related news: I can no longer install GNow - I get signature verification errors on both .247 and .246. I'm going to revert to .244 and further back until it works.

FWIW - the XDA thread now says you need a deodexed system, but I've never had a deodexed system and I've been using GNow on these ROMs a plenty. So, I have to dig around and figure out what went wrong....

That's no fun.

I'm testing the script now...at least partially. I don't have time for a reinstall. But I think you're going to flip out on the new option. :D The script is far easier for me to maintain now, as well.

Another thing - I've researched this in the past, but I don't think I ever found a way to do it.

I wish there was a way to show a progress bar when transferring the file so we'd know something was happening and not sit there and wait way too long before we realized that the process had actually hung....

I can test reinstalls, as I'm going to keep reinstalling until I find where GNow broke.

There isn't but I've taken steps to help with that. I put a LOT of work into this version to clean things up.
