Just curious... If I want to install a deodex .247 can I use HoB? It's just so much easier than doing it manually.
No. AFAIK it has to be installed using CWR.

LOL!!!To your own peril. I actually tried to make it more painful to skip steps. In fact, I did. More painful on myself. Someone this morning PM'd me that they skipped the transfer and md5 check steps and now don't see the update on their sdcard. REALLY?! I wonder how come that is..."Oh, it said 905 so I skipped it cause I didn't want that." Mother FFFFFFFFF..........

Could be all kinds of things. My guess is RSD isn't seeing your phone. Check your swdl.txt.
I just tried again. I confirmed that the phone is in fastboot mode and the SWDL.TXT has only these lines in it:
10/04/12 13:33:19 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10/04/12 13:33:19 New Log Started For Software Download.
If I run SDL manually it sees the fastboot phone on USB and says "Ready".

I hear ya, I work at RadioShack and get tired of people who ALWAYS come in and need help using a product just because they can't read the F_ing user manual. It does get very annoying especially when it is the same people over and over again.
Well, what scares me is I have over 1200 HoB users now and growing daily. I'm just one person supporting it on like 4 different forums. UGH.

As for you. Get to the point where it asks you to flash, touch NOTHING, load up RSD manually, load the HouseOfBionic_xxx.xml file in the 905_FXZ dir, manually flash it, TOUCH NOTHING on the phone, close RSD when it errors, select N on the prompt asking you to flash, and continue to the next step.

I get the error the moment I select the HouseofBionic_install.xml file from the 905_FXZ dir. here is the contents of that file.

I wrote the file. I know what's in it. LOL. Um, all the files are there in the 905_FXZ dir? You did install the FXZ yes?
Sorry.. I'm an IT guy.. I like to give info when I have it. I can confirm that in the 905_FXZ folder all of the files mentioned are there.. I didn't do MD5 hashes on them. This is the SAME machine I flashed .244 on and it worked fine.

utils\moto-fastboot flash system 905_FXZ\system.img
utils\moto-fastboot flash boot 247\boot.img
utils\moto-fastboot flash preinstall 905_FXZ\preinstall.img
utils\moto-fastboot reboot-bootloader
Shut the phone off when it's done, boot it into recovery, and flash the update. This is what we call the "manual method". IOW, the hammer.

You always say that and yet I've yet to actually come to you for support. Even in the early days when it would break on my machine I would simply fire up a CL and run the $#!7 myself....
I skip the transfer step b/c I like manually moving the file so I know it is there - and cleaning up a lot of other file son my phone.
BTW, I'm starting from scratch this time - I'm gonna do it with a full data wipe
I'm getting REALLY sick of people who don't read. I mean, seriously just tired of it. They're wasting my time and getting themselves into really stupid situations that they need help getting out of. I mean, it can NOT possibly be simpler than it is, yet, people just don't wanna bother. "I'm getting an error. I'm on USB3 on this machine...." Really? Ya don't f'ing say. That's odd. There should be a warning about that in the OP, the FAQ, and in the program itself. BANG.
You should re-write the batch file so that if the steps are performed out of order / skipped, a big fat warning comes up on the screen, and there is a 20 seconds pause before they can continue.

OMFG, I feel your pain. I worked for Tandy/RS back in the early 90s, and I had the same issue. SNAFU at its best.....

Nothing wrong with that at all. Since your installed version of RSDLite sees the phone, you could run RSDLite like Sam said and have it manually flash that file. You could also re-download the .905 installer and have it reinstall (just in case something got corrupted).
