I just went from 6.7.246 to 98.72.22_FXZ. Prior to that, I had taken a nandroid backup using ROM Manager. I'd like to temporarily revert to that image in order to export data/settings from a few apps, instead of doing a Titanium restore of them. Can I do that in the current state or do I first need to flash back to 246_FXZ? I read in the FAQ that "as long as the security matches, you can move between builds including going down" but I'm not sure if the "security" matches between ICS and JB. I suspect it may not since it's a major version upgrade. Thanks for your time!

You will absolutely brick your phone if you try that. Please don't. It will cause you all manner of pain. The security is most definitely different and does not allow you to revert. Man I don't miss locked bootloaders.

Thanks, glad I asked. But flashing the 246_FXZ and then restoring the nandroid image backup is safe?

Perhaps I wasn't clear. You can NEVER go back to 246. Ever. Not with an FXZ. Not with a Nandroid. Doing so will immediately brick your phone and cause you to have to painfully fix it. As I said, please don't do that. Once you're on 98.72.22, you're stuck there. There is no going back with any method.

It stays at this point until the battery dies. I've tried flashing with Keep Data and Factory Reset with the same result.
Please help!
Thanks!

If the FXZ fails flashing, it may be physically screwed. I don't know of anything that's going to help this problem.

They can try, but it won't. The HoB uses the FXZ. I can only say try changing flash modes. If you did RSD before, do fastboot now or vice versa. But, I have little faith.

Samuri what causes this I was under the impression that the FXZ was a get out of jail free card. As long as there was no hardware failure an FXZ would always work no matter how bad you F'd up the os.

That's my point. If the FXZ fails, you're almost always looking at a hardware failure of some kind. Either that or your machine is screwed up.

Thanks for the clarification that is what I thought because I have messed up my bionic pretty bad especially after the jb update/bootstrap debacle and still brought her back.

WARNING: If you get prompted for an update (I know, right?) DO NOT take it. You will lose root and probably lose SafeStrap ability...FOREVER. You have been warned. DO NOT take any OTA updates if you care about root and safestrap!!!!!!

They're going to patch the stupid master key vulnerability. They don't have a choice.
