I posted this problem in the help section of bionic, but maybe it's more appropriate here.  Based on our exchange last night, Sam, after trying the root method with the live ubuntu cd, I couldn't achieve root because of all the leftover "superuser crap" and you said to use HOB to FXZ.  In order to prepare for that, I need to uninstall safestrap.  Instead of going into the app, I went right into safestrap, couldn't find a way to uninstall, then had the brilliant (not!) idea to delete it manually from my files and TiBu back-up, then uninstall.  That didn't work out so well.  I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, now I get a message that Safestrap has stopped working after reinstalling twice and rebooting twice.  I can install the app, but not open it.  If removing safestrap is integral to proceeding with HOB, can you please advise how to next proceed.  I feel like a giant PITA today, sorry.  And, thanks.

Getting itchy for true jellybeans I think. Is 10.1 confirmed to work for setting and keeping root in ICS?

Yea.  But use Voodoo in addition for double protection. <Insert naughty American Pie joke here>

Wait I thought new version installs voodoo, koush su, backs up root into double secret location, etc etc? Just trying to be sure I can restore root after the ota... I know there's an exploit obviously but would be smoother if I didn't have to go there...

It does, but, you still have to go into voodoo and manually protect root so that it's backed up in 2 different locations. The HoB has its own protected su-backup.  Voodoo has its own.

Hello everyone!  Happily rooted with Jelly Bean,  AGAIN, Thank you Sam and

Question for everyone.   Does anyone notice that JellyBean is a memory hog?   Seems like the longer the phone is on, all my memory is ate up and starts to slow down noticeably.   I also notice that text messages seem to take a while to send.

Anyone else?

Yeah, but I removed apps and froze bloat... my Bionic is fine now! B)

Sam - my phone is running so much smoother after the HOB FXZ last night than the OTA install. My bionic has never been so responsive. Awesome utility you've developed. Thanks again!

I am assuming I have to fxz ICS 246 reinstall root and the take the OTA update or can I just upload the update here and and install though  stock recovery.

I know its kinda a noob ?? so please "Flame' easy.

I think you have a handle on it.

Yes, FXZ on 246, then reroot. You can take the OTA or load it through recovery, either way you get to the same place.

Just remember to update you binaries after you root.

Did you try wiping cache first?

Yes.  Or if you're comfortable with linux, just FXZ to 98.72.22 directly and then use the Linux root exploit for JB.

Or, you know, use the HoB 10.1 which uses the latest Koush Superuser and su binary.  :)
