All that changes with an unlocked bootloader. That's where I'm headed. VERY soon.

I am keeping my hopes up that ya come up with a root exploit. That would be so awesome!

Not me. I don't have anywhere near enough skills to pull that off.

Damn! If only I could figure out how to do it. I could buy myself a nexus tablet! Or pay vet bills...

It requires intimate knowledge of linux kernel security vulnerabilities. GLWT.

It's actually disgusting how under appreciated our root exploiters are to the common "flasher". I've spent much of my life hacking/cracking/modding whatever I could get my hands on and still can't even hold a candle to these guys.
SMH at all the misinformed people posting threads out there with "can't we just do A+B = Root?" questions.
My guess is, unless the bounty gets beyond ridiculous, ROOT is history for the OMAPS.

Patience. In time things may change. Remember it's a difficult process and is never easy or quick.

That is a little unfair. Plenty of us extremely appreciate the hackers that root these phones and send the ability to us "end users"/flashers the fix to do it. I haven't seen anyone that doesn't appreciate it.

There are plenty of users that don't. He speaks the truth about that. I see it all the time and it annoys me. The "someone will always find us root" attitude is beyond annoying. We're BLESSED because DJRBliss just replied to tell us we'll have a new exploit in a few days. We should consider ourselves INCREDIBLY blessed and lucky and NOT take it for granted. And this exploit will be a bitch to execute. Brush up on your linux and samba skills...you're going to need it. I will NOT be able to include and/or automate it.

Well it is very sad if people do not appreciate it. I personally appreciate it, and are Blessed for you and DJRBliss. I have been a volunteer paramedic for 18 years, volunteer thousands of hours helping/saving total strangers all the time. I know there is people that don't appreciate me, but most do. I may not be a Linux expert, but I give back to the community in my skills that I am good at. It is always a good feeling being able to help others.

Just to add...my main Bionic is "special". Tried the method last night and, well..it took a little while to get it back up and running correctly. Something just wouldn't take. It has been proven to work and if done correctly, does allow a bit of an "out" back to ICS..but just keep in mind that it's not exactly perfect. Just like almost anything that you are flashing to your phone.. read everything first..ask questions if you need to but read first..and proceed with caution!
My experience could be that 1 in a thousand.. but I felt it was important to share.

My spare parts bionic is "special" also, it didn't boot fully. So consider that 2 in a thousand?

I'm about to start testing the HOB up/downgrade method. Hopefully I don't screw up too badly...

Downgraded through HOB. Attempted the keep data option. Phone is rebooting, fingers crossed that it doesn't bootloop.

Sam is a perfectionist and is awesome at automating jobs once the plan is laid out and proven to work. Last I looked I saw version 10 of HOB, and am sure there will be another version (at least for Linux) once root exploit for JB is released (see Bounty for JB root page).

Yeah so uh, listen to Sam everyone (as if you needed ME to tell you that). Not only will the keep data option cause a bootloop when downgrading from JB to ICS, I also couldn't get into stock recovery to attempt an FDR to see if that would fix it. Flashing the full .246 FXZ through RSD now, hopefully that'll get me back to where I need to be,

RSD got me back to bone stock out of the box .246. Re-rooting through HOB. Put me down as another successful downgrade! Oh, and for the record...
FOLLOW SAM'S INSTRUCTIONS!!!
