First:

Found new update: 22

o] Connect your phone to USB
o] Set to Charge only or MTP

Add support for 22? [y/n]:

Then:

Looking for device [ADB]

Tried a few different things from your FAQ.  I have a "22" directory with the Blur version....(987222) file in it and an 22_FXZ directory with the cdma_targa.... file in it.  That was after trying either file in a 22 directory, both files in a 22 directory.

Get rid of the update.  You don't need it.  It's trying to create the boot img for it.  You just need ONLY the FXZ.

So removed the 22 directory and associated update file.  Now I ONLY have 22_FXZ directory with the cdma_targa... file in it.  HoB seems to completely ignore it.  Asks to install old (235 and 238) updates, which I decline.

Your HoB installation is not valid.  Uninstall it and start over.  Install the 9.9 installer, the RSD installer, create a 98.72.22_FXZ directory, copy the fxz zip file to it, and run the HoB.

Ok, you were right.  It was the naming of the FXZ directory.  Scouring the FAQ, I somehow must of missed the 98.72.22_FXZ naming convention.  My bad.  Seems to be going.

Wish me luck.

Thanks for your patience and hard work.

No problem. Good luck!  I hope it works.  If not, we'll fix it.

WARNING: IF you already FXZ'd OR took the JB update, you can SKIP THIS POST AS IT DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Alright, so, here's some new info brought to you by timmy10shoes....

IF you are on stock 246 ICS, don't care about root (for now), and want to "try" jb before you buy, there is now a way to upgrade WITHOUT locking you into JB.  With this method, you will be able to downgrade back to ICS (although keeping your data is probably not going to happen...at least you can get back to ICS if you choose).

WARNING: Failure to follow these steps EXACTLY will cause you all KINDS of problems that *I WILL NOT HELP YOU WITH*.  Use at your OWN RISK.

o) Grab the cdt.bin from the 246 FXZ and set it aside.  Make SURE you grab the right file.  This is absolutely critical and your failure to do so will be the make or break point as to whether you can downgrade or not.  DO NOT SCREW THIS PART UP.

o) Remove the 246_FXZ from the House of Bionic (HINT rename it to 246_xxx)

o) Install the 98.72.22_FXZ to the House of Bionic

o) Replace the cdt.bin in the 98.72.22_FXZ with the file you set aside from the 246_FXZ.  Again, DO NOT SCREW THIS PART UP or you will NOT be able to downgrade!

o) Use the FXZ Keep Data option

Enjoy JB.

To downgrade, remove the 22 FXZ from the HoB and replace it with the 246 FXZ and do a FULL.  Trying to Keep Data will likely result in a boot loop.

I take NO responsibility if this screws up your phone.

Has anyone given this a go yet? I'm tempted, might be willing to risk my root to test it out if noone else has...

I think hadensorn and one or two other have, there are a few problems on JB, and, of course, you loose root but you CAN get back to ICS.

Just to add...my main Bionic is "special". Tried the method last night and, well..it took a little while to get it back up and running correctly. Something just wouldn't take. It has been proven to work and if done correctly, does allow a bit of an "out" back to ICS..but just keep in mind that it's not exactly perfect. Just like almost anything that you are flashing to your phone.. read everything first..ask questions if you need to but read first..and proceed with caution!
My experience could be that 1 in a thousand.. but I felt it was important to share.

Yes, I did this and it works pretty well. Sam makes very good tools!

Except No camera! not even 3rg party apps worked! Went back to 246 and camera works fine.
It was great idea but undesired consequences.

Fun experiment!

The only one I trust is and used is SamuriHL... but I have been searching all the time and came across the oneclickroot.    If they come out with an exploit, maybe SamuriHL can incorporate it into HOB.

For the record, the one that I embedded in the House is RAZR's edge which DJRBliss created.  The next root exploit may not be embeddable.

I'm not placing bets, just a bounty :) ......

And I agree with Sam, this one will likely require some secondary actions that cannot be automated.

It is just stupid how they lock a phone you own.   It wouldn't be as annoying if they didn't load it up with bloatware on top of it that you cannot remove.
