I've only been messing with the exploits we already have. It looked promising when the Bionic got the new files apk, but got no joy there.
Damn. Sarge did say his friend worked on this build so maybe there's a glimmer of hope. I don't really mess with my phone so as long as root survives the ota I doubt I'll have a problem, but I'm not rushing to upgrade for the time being.

Samuri - if you want to guide me through manual flashing to fix my borked Bionic that would be helpful. I have the HOB all setup and my phone in fastboot mode. RSD Lite shows it is connected.
I don't have any experience with RSD, except what the HOB has used it for.
Get that file. Create a 987222 directory in the root of the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic directory. Put the update zip and the boot.img file into that directory. With your phone connected to USB and in fastboot mode, load HoB. Select the 987222 options, then select reinstall. Follow directions. You will not be able to root, either, so, welcome to my hell if this works.
Sam, sorry about your root problem!
Well, I did it, with your advice and help and a very late night!!! I was able to go back to stock rooted using HoB, reformatted a new SD card, left the other one encrypted, and reinstalled SS. Saved the Stock Blur ROM on my internal memory and uploaded and reformatted Slot 2 with 2GB and restored the new JB ROM. I then replaced the SD card with my encrypted SD and restored data from my encrypted Icarus HD TWRP Nandroid, wiped Cache and reebooted....:
Bingo, I now have my "custom" encrypted Stock Rooted Blur JB ROM on Safestrap! It got back the circles launcher and can access my work Exchange that requires encryption. All the while having the stock rooted system on the Stock side and a formatted extra SD card. I am writing on my lap dock!!!
Thank you Sam for you advice and insight. I never would have realized that I had a bad download, by checking the MD5. Also, thanks to Obsidian for providing me with greater insight into how this may or may not be done.
Now for a new Custom ROM....:
Sam, is there anything that I can do at my end to do further testing and help with the root exploit?
Not sure what you are suggesting above??? Or is that just in jest.

Those instructions were to fix his specific problem with his Bionic not booting. Nothing to do with root other than he will lose it as I have. Unless someone finds a working root exploit, there's nothing that can be done for either of us. And since Dan R quit, the likelihood that anyone that is good at finding root exploits is going to bother on an EOL phone is not so good. This may just push me to get an S4 at the end of May.

I had two superuser apps installed. Didn't like koush's (made me nervous) tried uninstalling, and then lost root. This was on 246. So I used hob to save data during the flash, re-rooted, updated the binary, voodoo'd, moved the job file to my sd-ext, and then flashed. Booted up smooth, voodoo'd again, checked root, and it all is wonderful. If I can be of service please let me know.
Of note, my wife will not allow me near her Bionic!
However I did advise my work partner through the update. He has never rooted his devices, nor cares to, so for him it all worked out, and he is enjoying his updated Bionic.

Yes, this bullshoot is why I will always buys an unlockable bootloader device. It is too risky to do anything with your device without one! :-) Everything is working on my end factory fresh, beautiful Bionic! :-)

Ok, thanks for the short answer. Sorry about your woes Sam. You've really helped us greatly and made us more aware of our phones capabilities. I'm sure you'll find the fix to get us all back on track. Short note, the new alarm clock scared the crap out of me this morning, but I was 30 minutes early to work because of it.
LOL that happened to me too. Apparently they removed the "volume fade-in" option for some reason. Grrr...

Can Dan be convinced to ride again? What about Hash code and DH? Just saying...

Dan has quit Motorola exploits twice before that I know of. :-) BUT in both those cases (motofail and razr's edge) we were getting the gravy from the D4 and RAZR. We shall see, but I really don't have much hope for OMAP this time. Can Dan be convinced to ride again? What about Hash code and DH? He would have to be very very bored to bother with it. Looks like we are screwed.

Nope. Dan is not interested. DH and Hash don't do root exploits.

Sweet. I hope that works out. In the meantime someone is sending me a RAZR HD that I'll unlock and be done with this root BS. Thanks for the info!
