That's what the reinstall option in HoB does. It flashes system and preinstall from the 246 fxz, the boot.img from 98.72.22, and then instructs you to apply the update from recovery.

All you can do is try. It won't boot so you'll have to start in fastboot mode.
Well, I walked away, and when I came back, the phone was sitting on a screen upgrading android, and appears to came up fine.. So I guess I'll re-root the thing and see if it will take the OTA..

Yea, basically. But you need the boot.img from 98.72.22. I mean, you could try manually flashing system and preinstall from the 246 FXZ and then shut down and boot into recovery and see if the update works. That would skip the boot.img.

Sam, I was getting install errors on both my phone and my wife's. I had run both bootstrap and safestrap since the last updgrade and my wife had only run bootstrap, so I think those caused the installation errors but I don't know. Anyway, I ran HOB and did the 246-KEEP DATA and everything was fixed! I rerooted, protected root, upgraded, and voila! Phones work great.
I'm know you get it all the time, but THANK YOU for creating such an amazing utility. You've done an amazing job and I really appreciate your effort on it and what you've given our community.

so flashing the boot.img from 246 right now would screw me because of the security change correct?

Yes this is what I should have done. Instead i messed with copying build.prop and something got screwed up.
Not sure I am up to doing manual flashes tonight.

I fxed to 246, rooted, backed up root on a current binary, getting E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (assert failed: apply_patch_check("/webtop/app/Kindle.apk". "09337fd618a8bb365c901bb20642799c70859842", "b13a8d44ae3410e96ad730639cd7613a6da2c053")

Of course I do. Reflash webtop. Which you probably disabled when you installed HoB. Look for vendor.img.disabled, rename it to vendor.img, then use the Fix webtop option on the utility menu.

LOL...I started to say I was using webtop a few days ago, but that was on eye_dea and timmy's blurry maxx ;-) don't know what I'd do without ya....is your bionic a 16GB? You know I could trade you mine until we get an exploit if I make it through this with root
