I am uploading a Safestrap Upgrade zip. You would need to be completely stock (rooted+Safestrap) on Bionic ICS, and then install this through Safestrap. If anyone wants to test this, might be easier to come into the DR chat or talk to me on Gtalk (mattlgroff (at) gmail.com)

Um, you can't use a ROM. You have to be FULLY stock. Not SS stock.
Not using the ROM: I flashed back to Stock (the stock which that link provided) and removed SS. Am I missing something/not comprehending? Are you saying I must now FX back using RSD to get back with a cleaner stock install? Thanks!!!!

Yea something in what you downloaded apparently isn't right if you can't install the update. For people having problems installing an update I always recommend this process:
o) FXZ Keep Data option in HoB
o) Root with HoB
o) Update su binary with your superuser app of choice
o) Protect root with Voodoo OTA Rootcondom (hehe)
o) Install update
o) Restore root

Obviously! LOL That is ok: I can reinstall SS and use the CM nightly to hold me over until I get home to my laptop. My company clamps down on installed apps and such and can't do it from here. thanks again!

Once again, Thank you Sam !
First I updated su binary then I downloaded update to sd, Then temp unrooted through voodoo( note : I also reprotected root with the updated su binary), booted into recovery and applied update. The update took 10-15 minutes. Rebooted phone, went straight to voodoo and restored root. I also confirmed root by opening tibu and sqlite editor.
My first impressions of JB are the phone now flows a lot smoother between apps and scrolling is also a lot smoother. I'm not sure if I like the new gallery set up. Overall seems like a good update and I will be more than happy for with this as the final os till I get a new phone.

So.. any fear still that this .22 update has any of the same issues as when it had ISIS integrated during testing?

Build is stable from what I've read. And to all my Linux/Mac people...I lost my VM image that I used to develop the Linux/Mac HoB. SIGH. All my in progress work is lost. I'm building a new image but I'm not motivated to recreate everything. UGH.

Tested Razr_blade: Fail!
Is there another exploit worth trying?

Just so everyone knows, I followed SamuriHL's instructions and I was able to restore root access with Voodoo after attempting Razr_Blade.

That's the one that has the most potential to work. (NOT motochopper). But as you can see, it's not an easy or delightful exploit to set up.

Thanks man. Let me know if it's worth setting up a new VM. My attempt seemed to fail a little while ago. What a pain. I'm not liking linux today. Once we have confirmed root I'll update and work on some HoB stuff. But not until then.

Good. I am not having much luck with this one, but it is the most promising. I find it odd that they added the remote storage to the Bionic. When I got the 4.1.2 update on the HD they didn't add it......

Hey Samuri,
You have made me feel great as far as a smartphone owner and the choice I made in this phone since buying it on launch day. I have been using HOB from the getgo and its rocks.
I just wanted to post an update from my jb experience this am. From what I recall I used the last HOB 246 update and left it. This am I saw the update ready for me. I renamed back a few of the files I manually renamed to whatever.bak cityid, etc.
I saw you guys mentioning voodoo to keep root, I did this and without reading further back about updating super user or ever having SS installed ( I dont play with the phone that much, I just follow HOB guidlelines and leave it) I took the plunge and upgraded. It went fine keeping root. I then said what the hek I bought super user elite 3.1.3.46 for 3$ and just upgraded that. Good golly miss molly I love this device once again, all the built in apps that can now be disabled inconjunction with setcpu, auto-memory killer, etc. I was on the fence about getting a new device and losing grandfather unlimited data just because I wanted a quad core but I will hang tough as the tards that be will not let us have an 8 core phone in the US.
Thank you! Samuri & team minions
ps. I forgot to mention at some point during my HOB updates before .246 I got a new ringtone and it actually says "unknown ringtone" under sound. I like it though it sounds unique sorry if this was already reported way back.

I did this with one phone...worked great. The other I still get update error. Tried FXZ from HOB several times. ALso tried factory reset. Any ideas?

Idea number one..."update error" is a shit message that should not ever be said in this thread. Give me details man. I can't divine what might be wrong.

Yea, send me the actual error and I'll see if I have any ideas. First idea...recopy the update zip to that phone and make sure it didn't get corrupted.
