Yup. I have a number of volunteers. I will have specific instructions for you when the update is around. You will not be taking the ota. ;)

Would like to help with the testing, as well, albeit cautiously, as my Bionic runs on enctypted data in Slot 3 (Blur- Icarus HD), which is required to get my Exchange work email account. The other slots, including Stock with rooted and protected (SU SU PRO and Voodo#) 246 are not enctypted. B) So, let's have a little fun. If Bricked I can always buy an I Phone (nah!!!), a Galaxy (Nah!) well, something else!! Maybe an old Nexus to tide me over until the XPhone comes out.

Testing for the update that gets to our phones hopefully soon?

Yea, I got some requirements for testing.  I will have the update given to me tomorrow as soon as the soak pushes.  From there we will formulate a plan.

Yeah....the new guys are REALLY in for some fun

just sayin'....make certain you read any communique from Sam SEVERAL times before you decide you know what it means and act on it, the "measure twice, cut once, you can't cut the board any longer" is the correct approach for any testing in this clique

Trying to decide if my sense of adventure is enough to join this ship. Will the instructions be easy enough for a noob to follow? You haven't led me astray yet!

I would hold off in your case.  I know your requirements and I can't yet meet them.  Stick with ICS for the moment.

don't sweat it staf, Sam's instructions are always clear, concise, and straighforward, you're a librarian, piece of cake.  plus you have the required humble aspect of respecting what you don't know, that's actually perhaps the most important thing.  the people that screw the pooch and risk Sam's unholy wrath are the people who read 1/2 the paragraph, decide they understand, and pull the trigger on something they really have no grasp of

Quite true.  But I urge patience for those that require a working phone.  We'll sort this update out tomorrow and give people a better idea of what to expect.

You give me a lot of credit, altspeed. Shall I tell you about the time I soft bricked my bionic attempting to install a ROM? I guess I was smart enough to FXZ it.

That's why I tell you to wait.  FXZ'ing will remove root and we can't get it back.  Until my minions have had a time to test a few things we can't guarantee anything.

Unlike with ICS..I'm really going to just wait to see. My bionic runs so much better than it did with GB and motos JB doesn't offer all that much more than ICS. But just like what has been said. Definitely read, read, read before you take the OTA!!!

Minions....I have the build.  I need someone to start testing for working root exploits.  The way *I* would test it is this:

o) On ICS, use my Voodoo OTA rootkeeper thread to protect root

o) Temp unroot

o) Install JB

o) Try RAZR Blade and other root exploits to see if anything works

o) If all fail, restore root with Voodoo

WARNING: Once on JB, the security has been up'd to 07 (ICS is 04) and you will NOT be able to downgrade ever.

Wish I was home to try on my broken radio bionic... I'll check in after.

We all knew it would be updated. LOL.  Just confirming.  That means we NEED to find a working root exploit.  RAZR's Edge definitely doesn't work (shocking).  I need someone to try RAZR Blade and there's another one out there, as well.  NOT the motochopper one as I know that won't work for us.
