7.0 RELEASE

WARNING: MAJOR changes to this version. This NEEDS to be tested!

o) Changed first menu to select version or FXZ
o) Added new second menu to select INSTALL/REINSTALL/REPAIR or FXZ options
o) REMOVED other menus and converted to a wizard

What this means is there's no 1, 2, 3, 4 anymore. It will walk you through the whole process. If you tell the HoB "no" at any option, you better know what you're doing. Take my warning seriously in that I haven't had a chance to fully test this. It seems to be working for me but I can't test everything.

RSD 6.14

o) Added a new installer to update RSD to the latest. This should be installed AFTER components on new installs. This is an optional update for those wanting to use the latest RSD.

I'm going to be changing the links in the OP soon. Those who have the HoB downloaded (installer, components, rsd, updates) need not panic. I've split things up in the installers but the end result is the same. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE COMPONENTS INSTALLER, there's nothing to do except get the latest RSD installer. You can continue using that installer until we get a new FXZ.

What I've done is created a separate FXZ installer, separate RSD installer, and move the utils into the main HoB installer. It just logically made more sense to me.

AGAIN, existing users will not be impacted. Just get the latest HoB and RSD installers and you're good to go. I'll let everyone know when the change is complete.

7.1 RELEASE
5.9.905 FXZ

o) Add utils to the 7.1 installer
o) Release an FXZ only installer

NOTE: If you already have the COMPONENTS 1.0 installer, you do not need to download the FXZ installer. Please continue to use the COMPONENTS installer until we get a new FXZ. You should get the RSD installer and update RSD.

Yup. :) Preparing us better for the next FXZ and making it easier to update RSD in the future. And fixing regressions from being stupid and not copying my work off my netbook like I should have.

Someone was asking what was different in 246. I don't know when it happened but Play Music now has an equalizer. I didn't notice this in 244 but I just may not have used it other than to re-sync my on-device music. And the screen is less jittery when the phone is charging on 246. It was nearly impossible for me to use on 244.

I also am one of those with CPU stuck at 1000 MHz max. It doesn't really matter to me, but I wanted to throw it out there.

I just installed 232 last night (Thank you SamuriHL for the help), and I see the Equalizer there, so it's not new.

As for the clock speed, I was at 1 GHz while on GB, but with the 232 ICS leak it is at 1.2 GHz. Quadrant score is 2951 (seems like it was 24xx or some such while at 1 GHz on GB).

I doubt it. I won't be home til later tonight. Someone claimed to have 247 last night but that was proven to be inaccurate. 246 is very likely to go OTA...and hopefully "soon".

Oh you tease! Didn't someone say that 244 was going to be the "one" also? I really don't care which one it is, lets just roll already!

I've recently installed 232 and it's really a huge improvement (data signal reliability, overall performance, instant GPS locks, and all that goes with ICS of course). So I'm tempted to step up to 246, realizing of course that I cannot flash back to 905. Which means that once ICS is released OTA, I will be temporarily stuck.

So just a few questions (my apologies in advance if these are obvious):

1) If I put 246 on the sdcard-ext, leaving the .ZIP for 232 there as well, and have issues on install, can I easily just punt and run INSTALL for 232?

2) If I go with 246, what is the practical risk of Verizon releasing an OTA that puts me in a corner from which I cannot get back on the OTA?

3) Once an OTA is released, be it 246 or something more current :), is the process then simply updating by flashing that particular release? I gather that obtaining said OTA release can sometimes take a while (weeks); can someone help me understand why? Looks like the engineering and test builds are generally snagged pretty quickly from QA servers, so why would the final OTA be different?

Thanks so much.

1) HELL no. You will brick. Once you go 246 you've entered the point of no return. The security will not allow you to revert to a build lower than 235.
2) No idea. That's the risk we all take playing with leaks. I'm fairly certain that 246 has finally been approved and will happen after the Atrix 2 pushes out its OTA, but, I can't guarantee anything.
3) Learn what an OTA is please. I wish more people understood this. The "difference" between a "leak" and "OTA" is.....one is unreleased. The other isn't. Meaning if 246 becomes the OTA build, guess what...you're done. If it's not, then we'll have to move to whatever build is OTA. You will need the HoB for that.

Yes of course. Makes sense now; thanks.

2) No idea. That's the risk we all take playing with leaks. I'm fairly certain that 246 has finally been approved and will happen after the Atrix 2 pushes out its OTA, but, I can't guarantee anything.

I understand there is this risk... really was just curious from the perspective of those that have been playing with leaks for a while just how often such a thing happens. I appreciate that every phone and release lifecycle is unique so perhaps it is not a fair or reasonable question.

:) My apologies if I didn't ask my question in a way that is more clear. All that makes sense. It is the "move to whatever build is OTA" that I was curious about. In the event that OTA release is a build that you don't already have via a leak (perhaps that never happens?)... for example let's say OTA for ICS on Bionic is a build newer that the most recent leak... is obtaining that OTA release quick/easy for you? I ask only because I recall seeing some mention of it taking weeks or months in the past in order to get back on the OTA track (forgive me, I don't know under what circumstances). My ignorance here is rooted in the fact that I don't understand fully your source for the new releases, I suppose. I'll dig a bit more and get it sorted. No need to get jacked up, there. :) And again, many thanks for all your work on HoB and in the forum here. It's a huge help to so many, and despite I've only recently started exploring, it's already been a huge help to me.
