Any further news about a JB leak or OTA date for the Bionic? I did read discussion on last page. Tried to search the threads before asking more, but came up empty.

Like the new Avatar and graphics. At first I thought "who I this guy?"It's coming. Probably end of next month.
Thanks to Hashcode's Safestrap I have not had to seek refuge in your nice new House:)
Hope to see you again soon when JB is on the OTA. 4.2? Thanks for the info

This means two (edit: 3) things to me. One, it would be silly to close all root possibilities (though with more "dev" phones and more developers nesting close to them this carries less weight). Two, it's a stretch to call people "screwed" if they lose root on Jelly Bean. Three, I'd be a fool if I didn't defer to your judgment on this, though.

I said those who care about root...like those who use custom roms, or half the stuff I do on my phone...would be screwed if they lose root. . . .
So, just for grins, what custom ROMs do you use on your Bionic? And, how do you install them, ie. with Safestrap??

While SamuriHL likes Stock 246, there is a thread about Bionic Rom preferences in Droid Bionic-> Roms. So, just for grins, what custom ROMs do you use on your Bionic? And, how do you install them, ie. with Safestrap??

Personally, while I like Stock 246, my favorite is Icarus HD 1.7.2 which is a Blur ICS Rom, AWSOME!!! Also play around with 4.2.1 Roms from Hashcode-CM10.1 and HC/David Hacker-Killrom. Both have been updated last week
Remember, use Safestrap 3.11 only and back up 246 on the stock Slot. Flash 4.2 Roms in Slot 1 and ICS and other in slots 2 and 3!!! Have fun!

o) Someone needs to capture the update zip. Only rooted users need apply and it's in your /cache folder.
o) Someone needs to extract the cdt.bin and VERIFY that the security has been updated over ICS. I'm 99.9% sure it will be, but, I prefer due diligence.
o) Those who want root will need to protect it. I'll detail that in a minute.
o) Someone, and we have volunteers for this so don't rush to be this person, will need to test the JB root exploit against the Bionic JB build. I'm not confident that it'll work.
IF the JB root exploit works, then the HoB will be relevant for JB as it'll provide cover until the FXZ is released. That's a big IF. If it does not, then don't use the HoB with the update if you intend to keep root. Any time you flash the system partition, root is blown away. The method the HoB uses to handle updates will flash the system partition and you'll lose root.
I will be around periodically so if a new update does come out while I'm gone, watch this thread as it'll get updated with information. You'll want to go into the update with full knowledge of whether you can downgrade to ICS (unlikely), whether you can keep root through the update (very likely), and whether the JB root exploit will work (I doubt it).
Keeping root through an update:
o) Ensure your SU binary is up to date
o) Install OTA Rootkeeper
o) Use the protect root feature
o) Temp unroot
o) Install the update
o) Restore root
You may do the same with SuperSU Pro, as well. I intend to use both. I'm paranoid like that.
