I never asked for "celebrity" in the first place. I released the HoB to help others. But far too many people don't want to read and just want someone to tell them what to push. I just made a change to permanently fix the situation you ran into. I've removed the HoB version of the FXZ installer. People are now going to be responsible for handling their own FXZ for the HoB. I've provided a link to the full FXZ for people to use. But that now adds more work for the end user which I don't consider a bad thing. I fully expect I'll get the inevitable people who can't follow simple directions to unzip a zip file and not getting it to work. I don't much care, tbh. The tool was never meant for the amount of people who use it. I'm happy for those that use it without problems. But for the *hundreds* of users I had to help over the past 4 months because they can't be bothered to read a couple posts, it gets really old and time consuming. More than most people will ever know. I'm not complaining. I'm happy to have helped as many as I did. The 300 gigs worth of downloads that happened in the course of 2 weeks is testament to how successful the HoB is. And I really do hope people continue to use it. I wrote it to be self sufficient without me having to do anything for it to remain relevant in the future. It was NEVER my intention to become sole support for the entire bionic community, but, somehow that's exactly what happened in those 4 months. All I've done is said enough...I'm not going to continue doing that anymore. The HoB is in a good place and I can now devote my time to other things. And that's what I'm doing. The annoyance you sense in my tone is from months of dealing with nothing but stupidity from users who really should never have touched the HoB in the first place. I'm not implying you're one of those users...I'm simply stating that my frustration comes from a place that no one really sees on the forums. Now you know why the OP states I'm not providing support. I have NO patience left for it. At all.

As for the FXZ, I've removed the HoB FXZ installers. You will now find a link to the full FXZ zip file. It's not an installer. You will now be responsible for following the very simple instructions for installing it into the HoB. If you fail to follow instructions properly, it won't work, and I won't respond to the inevitable "I did everything and it doesn't work" posts. If you see a sub-directory in your 246_FXZ directory called VRZ_XT875_6.7.246.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01 then you did it wrong. And it won't work. Maybe if I get motivated I'll make a method in the HoB to deal with it at some point, but, I'm not motivated to do so right now. This is now "build your own HoB" time. When I say it's for "advanced" users, here's your initiation test. Can you successfully follow instructions and unzip a file properly? Great. If not.....

HoB is going to get an update in a few minutes to support my decision to not deal with making FXZ installers. With the new code I wrote, you'll create a 246_FXZ directory and if you drop your FXZ zip into it, the HoB will detect it and do this for you:

9.4 WINDOWS RELEASE

o) Added automated "install FXZ" option. To install an FXZ see the HoB OP for instructions.
o) Added option to disable webtop for *ADVANCED USERS* when installing the FXZ

NOTE: If you disable webtop and run into webtop problems, don't even think about asking me about it. Seriously....just don't.

Hey dautley, 9.4?? :)

P.S. The fxz zip will be renamed to *.installed when the HoB is finished processing it. You can either leave it or delete it at that point. If you rename it back to *.zip the HoB will process it again, although I've not tested what that does. :)

That's the idea. If I keep updating it you all will never get around to actually being able to use it. :D

Damned near 3 months ago I made a whiny post about the version being 5.3. Now it's 9.4. Sigh.

At least he keeps making it better.

Yea. I've improved it to the point where I don't have to do anything with it. Now people can add their own FXZ, their own updates, and it'll just work. Any part of it can be updated (root, adb, moto-fastboot, rsd, etc) without me having to do anything at all. It's about as good as it can get.

I think you'll find the latest code rather hardened. :) There are ways to break it if you try hard enough, but, I've done a good job making it pretty strong.

That does actually remind me of something I keep meaning to suggest- maybe include the date of the current release in that top post? Eg something like,

Current Release: 9.4 (11/17/12)

9.3 (11/11/12) deprecated
9.2 (10/10/12) deprecated
...

you get the idea. Just a thought, but I know it has always worried me just a bit to see a post dated August somethingth but then a ton of posts/releases in the thread ("wait, did I miss one? Is there a later ver? maybe he forgot to update the first post?"). And I get that that could discourage people from READING the thread(s), but it IS awfully long, and most people aren't as anal retentive as I am. Anyway.

(Note- I'm in NO way trying to make more work for you or anybody else, just thought it might forestall some of the questions I see. And I didn't weigh in on this morning's... stuff, but believe me, I get where you are- I crank code and project manage professionally, and I've done plenty of tech support- so I know precisely why you feel that way. Not that that makes it any better, heh).

-S.
