I had a feeling I was missing something right in front of my face. I'll consider my next move wisely :-) Thanks.

Is there somewhere in the instructions that tell you to put the 246_FXZ directory on your phone? Anywhere? No? That might be an indication of an issue then...

Sam I realize this is probably a lame question but when the OTA was finally released I followed your instructions and downgraded from .247 back to .246 uning ay that time HOB 7.5 I believe. 1. Am I now on the upgrade path or should I repeat the process with the Latest FXZ and 9.2? I will know the answer if the Faq's is correct by you simply ignoring a Stupid Question just felt like I needed to ask. Please forgive mt Ignorance.

You are already on the upgrade path. Only reason you should need the HoB again is if you brick your phone or when new updates come out that will be supported by the HoB and Sam. As of now you are good.

Quick question for Sam . Was on .232 for couple of months Very happy. Last Saturday got tired of waiting for Ota Hob ed to .246. again no problems settled in and working fine . loaded the FXZ to my computer last night. My question is do I do as fresh install or reinstall? probably stupid question. I have done OK by reading and rereading the FAQ's up till now but unsure about which install to use and am I better doing the FXZ or just leaving as is. BTW all hob installs I have done have been smooth and problem free Just waiting for my battery to finish charging. If too stupid a Question and you do not respond I understand. LOL Thank you for all the great work you have done on all the HOBs. Tom..

Then no need to use the fxz unless you are having issues.

The only thing people need at this time are the hob installer, fxz, and rsd. If you have the 246 update you can delete it both from the hob and from your sdcard-ext. The fxz does not get copied anywhere.... It's not an update. It's the full set of partitions and gets flashed from ap fastboot mode using either rsd or fastboot. There is no need to go to recovery after using the fxz. The only difference between the keep data and full fxz options is whether the user data partition is erased or not. Those already on 246 need not do anything regardless of how you installed it. However, I personally feel the HoB is a useful tool for when things go wrong. Also if you are on 246 and need to re flash for any reason, and you happen to have installed the vendor.img (webtop), you should rename it in the 246_FXZ directory. This will save you a lot of time as flashing webtop is only needed once and will not ever be needed again. That should about cover it.

Thanks for the post. This clears up every thing for me. I have the hob 246 i used and the 246 FXZ on my computer. If something happens and I need to re flash that is what I will use but my phone has had a week to settle in and everything is working fine . Hopefully no need to re flash until JB lol. Thanks for all the work you put into making HOB work so well. Read reread and do not skip any instruction s Thanks for the clarification about FXZ Tom..

Q: I installed the webtop installer when I first went to 246. Now it flashes it every time I reflash 246. Does it need to?
A: If you are on 246 and need to re flash for any reason, and you happen to have installed the vendor.img (webtop), you should rename it or remove it in the 246_FXZ directory. This will save you a lot of time as flashing webtop is only needed once and will not ever be needed again.

I may reflash (use 246 FXZ), my Android OS battery usage is > 60% (I'll take some other steps first before going the full 246 FXZ route)

I originally did stock to 232 with HOB, then on 10/19/2012, I used HOB 8.1 to go from 232 to 246... I don't currently use webtop but I want it there.. I didn't do anything previously specific for webtop (vendor.img) but from my understanding, it should be there (based on my previous upgrade paths), correct?

To go further, there is no harm in also reflashing/including the webtop for a full 246 FXZ (if the separate HOB webtop download is installed), it just takes more time, renaming it/removing it will skip that anyways.

Those who are on ICS don't need to reflash webtop. It's only those 905 or previous that need to. Although I don't know if they made any changes to webtop between 232 and 246...I doubt it but I don't know. 247 webtop is identical. Flash it once if you're concerned, then you don't ever have to flash it again.

Another hot tip for anyone who had a previous version thanks to HoB and decided to upgrade to 246: delete the old HoB first and completely reinstall everything. I had HoB 5.0 and the new version just works completely differently.

Samauri, you are a steely-eyed missile man. Thanks for an excellent product. (And hey, I figured it out by reading the instructions and the FAQ and did some of my own troubleshooting and never asked a stupid question. Are you proud?)
