I had the black screen of death after applying the update last night. But after updating to 9.2 and installing WEBTOP everything worked. I did panic a bit without a phone for a day, but I knew I could figure it out with all the information in this post!

Been reading this post and faqs for 3 days now. Tons of info to digest. I've rooted my incredible, my bionic, and now want to do it right for 246 so finally gave it a go, but have the black screen with sound issue. I've installed webtop, and all other op files. Tried different usb ports, tried rebooting computer and phone, Under "utilities" there is no option for Repair WEBTOP...only repair radio. I can't find any comments on why that is the case. I'll re-read all 103 pages but in the meantime, if you have any suggestions before a full wipe, I'm all ears. Thanks.

Those of you running into the black screen of death coming from 905 should update to 9.2 and use the FXZ KEEP DATA option

Perhaps because you didn't follow directions and install the webtop installer in the op? Just a guess...

Everything works fine (235 build before, now on 246) Thank you to everyone involved.

I do have one concern... download speeds, Wi-Fi and 4G, are beyond slow... I'm going on an hour and 15 minutes to download a 2.8MB application from the market place. (I haven't been capped in my cycle yet, I don't have dial up).

Has anyone had this issue before?

*edited because I can't spell

Yep. Same here.
Sam suggested that I wait (4 days) and see if things settle down and performance improves. So, that's where I'm at...

2 days, 2 hours, 48 minutes, 24 seconds and counting...

If your that slow on data just FDR, I only waited 5 min to FDR when I down graded, but that's because sams hack job killed my awesome PC, :D sound right Sam?

But my 3g speeds tripled after FDR

Now I get this.

SamuriHL's House of Bionic 9.2

FLASH MODE: RSD
[*]
[*] Motorofail ICS Root Exploit (Windows version)
[*] by sargentmajord
[*]
[*] Before continuing, ensure USB debugging is enabled, that you
[*] have the latest Motorola drivers installed, and that your phone
[*] is connected via USB.
[*]
[*] Press enter to root your phone...
Press any key to continue . . .
[*]
[*] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *

I terminated the batch job after 20 minutes or so as it didn't seem to be doing anything. I don't think it's finding my phone for some reason. I tried doing the show processor info and I get a device not found error. Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to have something to do with the cable you are using, at least thats my hope. I'm in the same boat and got the same answer.

Those of us that are don't have as much knowledge as the rest, should help each other out.

Did that. 8 or 9 times. Still black screen of death. I can see that the message lights flash, the buttons work, but can't see anything.

I did install webtop installer from OP by clicking on and extracting this link:

And are you flashing with rsd or fastboot? Where's the output of your flashing? etc etc. I'm not going to play guessing games. If you don't provide the info I need to help you, then I won't.

Make sure you are actually using 9.2, Repair WEBTOP is there. I did do a FDR before retrying with 9.2 and flashed with fastboot. Don't skip steps and start from the beginning. If it still isn't working, uninstall everything and reinstall. Then follow the steps on the top of page 96.

Mr. Sam,

Hopefully you never get tired of hearing it, but HoB rocks!!!!!! Just used 9.2 to downgrade from 247 to 246 and had a minor glitch the first time (loose nut behind the keyboard) and the second time it ran so f'n fast that I thought I had messed up again, especially when I wasn't expecting the reboot to main screen (my dos window didn't catch up until after it had happened) but, Lo and Behold it worked perfectly! Thanks for all you do and all the male bovine excrement that you've had to put up with from us lowly lusers!

Cheers

The Repair WEBTOP option is dynamic. It doesn't always show there. It's only there if the WEBTOP support installer has been installed properly. ;)

Thanks SamuriHL, you're awesome. I used HoB to update to 247 and then FXZ 246. Your HoB made it so frigging easy, and I'm a noob, and dumb@$$ to boot. Lmfao, I'm glad that there are still people in this world who just want to help others enjoy there devices. You're cool dude!

Any plans to support future phones? I know moto will offer unlocked versions, but I also know not every one can afford that chunk of change

Nope. I put out the HoR but it wasn't used. Due to my bandwidth issues I took it down off my hosting and no one's complained so far. I think Matt's razr utility is quite well received for that community so that's a good thing. The House can adapt to any Moto phone that uses an FXZ.

Yeah. Us Razr users have grown quite accustomed to Matt's utility. I didn't even know there was a HoR to be honest. When I searched for rooting my razr Matt's utility was top of the page

If there's any renewed interest in a HoR I can make one from what I have in about 5 minutes so it's not a big deal. Your FXZ is different than ours and your updates look like patches now instead of full updates, but, I wrote code to adjust to that.

I don't know that it would bring enough benefit or interest to warrant the work needed. The being said I don't know if Matt still has his Razr or not.
