No that's not what I said. I said webtop won't flash on 32 bit linux. However everything else SHOULD....in theory.

Ah. My mistake. I misread that then. Apologies for the bad info!

LOL. No biggie. But it's not been tested on 32 bit OS' afaik, so, there really could be a problem there. It's not an issue with the HoB, but, the fastboot library that's chosen. However, I've seen that before when it wasn't being run in a bash shell. So I don't know.

Noob question. I promise that I have read the faq and release notes several times. I think I know the answer, but I'm hoping for an alternative. I'm completely stock and have the 246 OTA. I'm trying to root only using HoB. I downloaded and installed all of the HoB components and verified my Moto ADB driver loaded when I put my phone in fastboot mode. After making sure the driver loaded I rebooted my phone set it up in MTP mode with USB debugging enabled. I fire up HoB and use RDS mode and the utility menu. As soon as I choose the option to root it appears to attempt to copy 3 files, but I get access denied errors. I get errors on the rest of the screens as well. I did launch the HoB version of RSD and it does see my phone. I tried various cables and ports on my computer, did reboots etc. Am I stuck doing a FDR to get this working or is there another method to root that is painless.

You have permission problems copying the adb files into the root dir. Copy them there manually and do it again.

Now I get this.

SamuriHL's House of Bionic 9.2

FLASH MODE: RSD
[*]
[*] Motorofail ICS Root Exploit (Windows version)
[*] by sargentmajord
[*]
[*] Before continuing, ensure USB debugging is enabled, that you
[*] have the latest Motorola drivers installed, and that your phone
[*] is connected via USB.
[*]
[*] Press enter to root your phone...
Press any key to continue . . .
[*]
[*] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *

I terminated the batch job after 20 minutes or so as it didn't seem to be doing anything. I don't think it's finding my phone for some reason. I tried doing the show processor info and I get a device not found error. Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

garcia, i think you have to have the android adb stuff already installed on your os,, like if you were going to use the Kitchen utility..

( waits to get told that im wrong again by sam... )

I think I have it setup right, because if I boot in fastboot mode the ADB interface shows up with the drivers loaded properly. When I boot normally it doesn't show up. Should it be in device manager when I have it setup in MTP and debug mode?

The devices mounted when I'm booted normally are Motorola USB Networking Driver and Droid Bionic under portable devices.

OK thanks. I was really hoping to avoid FDR, but I tried all of those things.

Everything works fine (235 build before, now on 246) Thank you to everyone involved.

I do have one concern... download speeds, Wi-Fi and 4G, are beyond slow... I'm going on an hour and 15 minutes to download a 2.8MB application from the market place. (I haven't been capped in my cycle yet, I don't have dial up).

Has anyone had this issue before?

Big thanks to everyone on this board for all the info. Huge props to SamuiHL for the details. I'm more green than your grandmother's tomatoe's and I just finished the 246. A week ago i was looking at new phones but stuck in a contract for another year. Could not get any updates and 4G was a thing of the past. Thank you HoB.

You guys rock!!!

I had to do a FDR for mine to go up, but first do a reboot, then give it a few days to settle down, then and only then of your still not happy do a FDR

I used HOB 9.2 to go from 232 to 246 and just did a 17M download from the play store in like 5 seconds, so it's not HOB or 246 I would say.
