All bad!!! This rom killed, no murdered my razr. It was okay at first but after a day the phone would be HOT!! and I wasnt even on it. The screen was off and just chilling while it was practically melting. I figured I have had this happen on plenty of phones and nothing too bad happened, however while running the built in tether my phone went into cool down mode and rebooted over and over. I should have took action but no, I had to be risky and let it ride thinking it would clear up just to come and find out that the poor baby wouldnt even boot up anymore without overheating. So now thats where I am at now. Phone over heats and powers down on boot. I can get into cwm but even after flashing another rom it still overheats, I think I need a new radiator LOL.

Odds are, that has nothing to do with this ROM. Do a full wipe first. If that doesn't fix it, you have defective hardware. To my knowledge ROM is not capable of changing how the hardware operates beyond simple changes such as overclocks, voltage adjustments, and init scripts that the kernel allows. If we had an unlocked bootloader, that could be another story. Also, if it was this ROMs fault odds are somebody else would have experienced this by now given that this appears to be the most popular non-ICS ROM.

I am sorry I think you might be wrong. I have flashed planty of roms on this phone and never overheated until eclipse. Also if the bootloader was unlocked then yes a custom kernel would have been the way to go with this rom so that way it can handle running wifi tether while charging like any other roms I have used Please note as quoted in previous post the phone was melting without running anything prior to this melt down lol. If you read the post, I did wipe and flash another rom only to experience my phone overheating still. I would might have took your response into consideration if my phone had been new and flashed this rom out of the box. However the phone is not new and never had this problem before. I do however believe that not every phone is created equal and some phones might be able to handle extremities that maybe other phones cant.

it doesnt matter what you "think" because I think there has been countless others that have been using this ROM and are not having your issue. If your the only one this is happening to then the issue is with either the way you set it up or installed on the device. Dont come in here and start to blame the ROM for something that is obviously not the ROMs fault. This is an awesome ROM and if your still having issues after a full wipe and reinstall then flash back to 100% stock and retry from scratch.

Okay fine I dont think hes wrong I know hes wrong. Ill just go back to XDA. Cry babys!!! What dont you understand about the phone overheats and powers down on boot???Its no longer a software issue its a hardware issue. If going back to stock fixes hardware then thats something new.

Also I am not trying to bash Eclipse by any means at all. I have always loved Eclipse on every phone supported by it. To Eclipse Devs and team I appreciate all the countless hours of blood sweat and hard work put into development. I apolgize to anyone offended. I am just trynig to let my experience be known after flashing 1.3. BTW I flashed the previous builds without major problems and loved them. Thanks for your time here at rzr.com

What I was getting at is that a random bad luck occurrence of your hardware showing a problem is more likely than the ROM being the issue. Also, you never stated that you had wiped any partitions, let alone a full wipe. The closest comment you made was that you flashed another ROM. Feel free to blame whoever/whatever you want but that won't help you get any closer to rectifying the issue at hand.

My bad for coming the wrong way. I just assumed that everyone knew we should always do a full wipe before flashing a rom. I dont believe this issue can be rectified the device wont power up longer than 2 seconds even after 20 min in the freezer.

I really do wish that everyone did a full wipe (/system, /data, /cache + Dalvik on the RAZR for anyone reading this) before flashing a ROM, but 90% of the issues people run into are either the result of not wiping or restoring system apps.

1 final thing to test, and it is a long shot. Have you tried putting it into charging mode (plug in while powered fully off)? I'd need to do a little research, but in that state they should not be initializing much hardware. I do know they initialize some code however so the CPU is going to at least get a very light load for a short while. If it does not over heat during that, I would almost definitely think it is beyond repair. If it still overheats I would think the battery is fried or experiencing a massive load if it is going off that quickly. The thermal output of the chips is low enough (<1W per core) that the housing alone should act as a heat sink longer than that. It would be possible for a faulty chip to generate the heat themselves, but given how prone Li-Ion can be to overheating under heavy draw or when faulty that seems to make more sense. I wish I could be more help, but without the device in my hands to tear down there is nothing more I can do but speculate. If you are comfortable tearing yours down, and are willing to accept voiding any hopes of a warranty, you can open it up and pull the battery slightly out of the housing. This way you can check if the issue is the battery generating heat for sure. The downside, is that even if the battery is generating the heat, it doesn't mean another chip isn't at fault and just heating the battery up due to drawing ridiculous amounts of power.

I tether my phone on the charger all day everyday and it doesn't overheat. So you might have some hardware issues.

It is not as simple as just dropping back in a few files like it is with other ROMs. That is because this ROM has the framework very heavily rebuilt. If you want automation, the options are Llama, AutomateIt, Tasker, or using another ROM.

Having adb issues running this rom, using v1.3 adb detects the device but is always showing that it is offline. Any suggestions?
