ya I looked and it is all disabled in the settings

I pair to my truck radio and the music sounded kinda hollow until I set the equalizer up under Bluetooth... its a stab in the dark but maybe something will make it sound better when you are paired. Maybe try turning compression on and see how that sounds...

First post coming from XDA, looks like there's a lot more development going on for the CDMA Razr here.. Quick question. I'm really liking this Eclipse rom except the CM7 email app doesn't play as nicely with my exchange account as the stock blur email apk. I've tried going in with a root explorer to change it to email.apk.old, then renaming/putting in the apk(s) from a stock rom, but I can't get it to work. It looks like there are a few stock apk's to choose from, (BlurEmail.apk, Blur_Email.apk). Am I out of luck or can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks

My school (exchange) email synced up nicely with the client. Did you check all the SSL certificate box? Or have the Domain/Username be your actual email? EX : myemail@domain.school.edu. Then change server to: m.outlook.com. That's how I got it to work.

Greetings Smart People,

I must be an idiot. I soft bricked again requiring RDS for the 4rd time. It takes forever to relaod...

What I am trying to do is use Eclipse 1.3 as my production ROM. I want to use SafeStrap and install various ICS ROMs on the Safe side as a sandbox. However, I always want to disable Safe Mode and run production on Eclipse 1.3 when I am done fiddling with the ICS ROM.

So, I have reverted to stock and re-rooted after updating to .173.

How can I install Eclipse 1.3 and then install safestrap? It seems like Eclipse has its own recovery built in. When I installed Eclipse after using motofail root, the bootstrap recovery was gone from the app list. So when I install safestrap, I run into problems because i have 2 recoveries? (This is a bit of a guess, but I can assure you I ran into "problems"...)

So I did the fllowing:
1. Stock via RSD
2. Two Verizon Updates to get to .173
3. Root using motofail
4. bootstrap recovery and reboot into recovery
5. Install Eclipse 1.3

So now I have Eclipse 1.3 installed. However when I installed safestrap and tried to enable safe mode, it wiped my eclipse data. After a couple of reboots, it was stuck in Fastboot so I had to RSD yet again and do everything all over again. I am now at step 5 for the 3rd time and need some advice on what my next step should be.

Is it possible to use Eclipse 1.3 as a primary ROM in SafeStrap? If so, how do I install SafeStrap when Eclipse seems to have its own recovery that I cannot figure out how to delete?

Thanks for any advice.

Your Humble Village Idiot,
Doug M.

Safestrap won't let you flash the main ROM. Safestrap 2.0 will allow for multiple roms to be installed. However, It's still in the works but that's what I'm waiting on. I just pm'd Hashcode about this the other day.

I believe what you want to do is use bootstrap to flash eclipse on main system. Then remove bootstrap and install safestrap. Then eclipse will be your main system and you can flash ics on your safe system. Make sense?

Disregard... I missed a lot of your post somehow.

Yeah I got it to sync just fine, but the CM7 app never displays HTML content and embedded pictures like the stock app does. It keeps them as attachments at the bottom, and they always fail when I try to download them. It was like this on my CM7 incredible too. For now I'm back to stock until I can figure this out

Did you have a lot of widgets and crap on your homescreen?

What sort of "widgets and crap" would cause poor battery life?

My battery seems to be draining a lot faster since I installed this ROM (which otherwise I love) -- maybe 20% per hour of light use, more if I'm doing something like streaming radio.

I had a Fancy Widgets 4x2 clock-weather-calendar on my home screen but have since trashed it without much effect on battery life. The only other widgets I have are toggle widgets, which I didn't think would drain the battery.

20% per hour is crazy. I would wipe & reinstall...something isn't right if you're losing that much battery with light usage. But a large amount of Widgets will affect battery life...also, check the refresh frequency of certain apps, such as Fancy Widgets etc. I use Beautiful Widgets, which is set by default to check weather every 15 min, so I change that to 1 hr in order to save battery.

Another thing to consider is screen brightness settings. Do you use auto brightness? If set manually, how bright is it set to? I keep mine set very low, unless being outdoors, there is no need to set it very bright. Also, how much you keep the screen turned on affects battery life...I keep the auto turn-off at 30 seconds, but I turn the screen off immediately any time I'm done using it...

Is your keyboard set to vibrate/sound on key press? These will also affect battery....umm...I'm at work, so I m a bit distracted, that's all I can think of at the moment related to battery...I have been off charge for just over 3 hrs on light usage, I just now hit 89%...

I would not disregard. I was going to say pretty much the same thing. He needs to make sure he's not having bootstrap and safestrap installed at same time or very bad things happen. Once he confirms that that is not what he is doing we can help him more I think

Hey, thanks for all the tips. I keep the brightness at 10% except for short intervals if I'm using it in the sun. I'll try the other things you mentioned - good call on the "haptic feedback," I'll turn that off.

When you say wipe and reinstall, do you recommend the full factory reset? Or just cache + battery? Should I reformat the system? (I've seen this last recommended for some other ROMS but not this one, so I'm guessing no.)

Thanks again.

Thanks guys, I am still trying to do this. I cannot figure out how to remove bootstrap from the eclipse ROM. After I flash Eclipse, I do not see Bootstrap in the app list so there is nothing that I can see to uninstall.

When I tried to just add safestrap, ...well, let's just say that was a mistake...

How do I uninstall bootstrap from an Eclipse 1.3 ROM?

Thanks for the help.

I'm probably wrong, but I think I read in one of these threads that you cannot use bootstrap and safestrap together...it is one or the other. I'd use Matt's utility to unroot and go back to .173. Then root, install bootstrap and flash Eclipse. Or, go back to .173, install safestrap and flash Eclipse on your non-safe side. I don't think you can install a ROM in Bootstrap then install safestrap and install a different ROM.

One thing I do miss is the stock alarm clock. I liked how you could basically touch anywhere on the screen to snooze the alarm but had to slide the slider to shut it off. Anyway to get the stock one back or do I just need to find something on the market?

I absolutely agree with this. Since installing Eclipse, my inability to quiet the alarm by touching the screen has resulted in my entire household being awakened when my alarm goes off at 4 am...while I fumble with the phone to quiet the alarm.

I would appreciate any info that folks can share regarding this issue. The current situation is a deal breaker for me.

Perfectly stated. That is exactly what I am trying to do. I have installed Eclipse 1.3 using Bootstrap and now I want to uninstall Bootstap and install safestrap. I cannot figure out how to do this. It may not be possible.

Thanks,

Go back to stock .173 using Matt's RazrUtility 1.4 (it's in this forum for download). Then root using the same utility and then you can install bootstrap or safestrap which ever one you want.

This misses the mark just a bit. I want to use safestrap as follows:
Unsafe ROM = Eclipse 1.3
Safe Rom = ICS

The problem is getting Eclipse as the "unsafe" ROM. Once safestrap is installed, you cannot touch the "Unsafe" side. But if I install Eclipse, I cannot then install SafeStrap.

I really can't say why your phone it's not playing nice but I used to have that exact setup. I used boot strap to flash eclipse, then I uninstalled bootstrap, installed safe strap, toggled to safe mode and flashed ics. It all went smoothly but in the end I just decided to go back to stock.

In an earlier post you said After flashing eclipse you don't see boot strap in your apps. This is because you wipe data when you flashed eclipse . But boot strap is still hijacking your recovery even though the app has been removed. I don't know if this makes a difference but I always backed up my user apps and data with ROM toolbox then after flashing eclipse I restore all of my user apps and data. This put bootstrapper back into my app drawer but not as a clean install, it was still associated to the recovery . Then I just uninstalled bootstrap and installed safe strap . Disclaimer: while this worked for me I cannot say for sure that it will guarantee work for you .
