No. Wipe cache and dalvik-cache and flash. In other news this RON is absolutely killer. I was running Abysm but this one is just so much more fluid. I love it so much. I also just flashed the new update. Thanks very much nitro! If I am already running 1.2 is it necessary to do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset to install this rom?

Yes I know to press home but i can not get any furthor than the "Please wait, this may take a few minutes." Warning. Pressing Home at this point does nothing. It says in the OP that once you get the android, press android, then press home and skip set up process. 4g phones do not activate via *228. Once you press home, you can manually add your gmail account and everything else set up does.

OK, try this:
Turn phone on
Do NOT touch the Android guy
Touch all 4 corners in a clockwise order starting with the top left (top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left)
This will bypass setup...
Let me know if it works out

Hmmm, sounds like you weren't on the right system before flashing...did you make a Android by any chance before you flashed?

Yep, that explains it.. Abysm 1.1 was built off system version 6.11.748 which is prior to the OTA...you need to be on system version 6.12.713 (I believe that's it)
I believe there is a CWR flashable zip which will bring you up to date, though I just got in to work and won't be able to search it up for a little while...

But he's going to need to get back to stock 6.11.748 in order to take the OTA, yes? For example:You need to take the actual OTA. You are in need of the new radio.

Restore stock 6.11.748 nandroid (if available)
Use OTA Rootkeeper from market
Take OTA
Use OTA root keeper to restore root
Yes?

Our if you have or download Matt's utility, you can just flash 173 directly and bypass any ota. The utility will also root your phone.
