Matt, are you making a utility like this for the JB leak? I want to start trying out some of the new roms but not until there is a version of the utility for JB. Your utility has save me more times than I care to remember. Thanks

Using windows 7 or 8 it xp? .....

Try disabling antivirus

Try unzipping the utility again... overwrite when prompted...

OK he screwed something up but all is good in Android world now, got him fastbooted back to .211, rooted and flashed JB...thanks for your help

Please Note: This is ONLY for the Verizon DROID RAZR and the Verizon DROID RAZR MAXX which are running the Ice Cream Sandwich already. If you are on Gingerbread or Jellybean you cannot use this to upgrade or downgrade, you will brick.


DROID RAZR Utility 1.82



Functions of 1.82:

• Fastboot Restore 6.16.211 (ICS 4.0.4 Official OTA Software). Put the phone into AP Fastboot mode and run the option. (Power the phone on with holding both volume buttons + power button.)
• Ice Cream Sandwich Root 4.0.4. This root exploit by the awesome Dan Rosenberg roots our ICS 4.0.4. Have your phone plugged in with USB Debugging enabled and the USB Mode set to MTP or Camera. (If Devices
  still not found, please factory reset your phone for the root to work, this is of course if installing the drivers did not work).
• Install Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper App (Updated). With the phone booted and on USB Debugging enabled (not USB Mode Mass Storage as well), this will install the app.
• Install Safestrap Recovery App (ICS version 2.11). With the phone booted and on USB Debugging enabled (not USB Mode Mass Storage as well), this will install the app.

Yes just copy and paste into the folder ( overwrite when prompted) ... should be good to go....

Ran this again last night with the updated files and I get the same result... I am convinced that I indeed have root access by checking through Term Emulator and the fact that the apps that need root are asking for and when I grant access they appear on the list in SU. The binary is 3.1.1 which is the same as on my phone on JB and latest.

I attempted running the utility to get back to ICS, but received error messages due to low battery during the process. How can I charge my battery now? When I try to go in to normal boot mode it takes me back to a fastboot screen. Is the battery charging while in any of these menus? If the battery is charging, how long should I let it charge since I can't see any amount charged?

Typically your battery will not charge at this point... however you can try one of the methods in this thread

It is mentioned in that thread that the most reliable way to attempt to restore your phone is to get a "factory cable" or a adapter from TBH ( team black hat)

And even when you are able to get power to your phone.... if you are on the JB leak you can not (yet) go back to ICS ... there is a small utility by Matt that can help you get back on the JB leak if its screwed up .... (not an upgrade utility but a fix, and you will lose root)

Your mileage may vary on the tips. They work for some, and not others (including me).

I had the same problem and ended up ordering the "factory cable" Saturday, and it was delivered today (I selected the priority mail option, an extra $6.35). The cable worked great. I re-downloaded 1.82 and in less than 10 minutes i was back to .211. Lucky for me I had my OG Droid that I could use until I could the Razr running.

On ICS 211.
I am trying to root using the option 2 but its on hold at "Waiting for device". Done factory reset and wipe cache but its still showing "Waiting for device".
Drivers seemed to be working fine because option 1 to restore to ICS 211 is working fine.

After restoring .211 did you go back in and make sure USB debugging is enabled.... and are you booted normally and in mtp mode.....

Reboot both the phone and computer..... plug back in.... switch from mtp mode to mass storage.... wait a min .... switch back to mtp ..... double check USB debugging.... occasionally it will un check on reboot....

Does your computer recognize your phone when plugged in? In any mode ....maybe try a different USB port

When plugged in, a window does open asking to view files, sync, import images etc and a couple of different options.

OK.... close that window then switch to a different USB mode.... another similar window should come up..... if you just recently updated drivers, cycling thru the USB modes ensures that the drivers are fully installed...
