When i try to use option 2 in the utility to root it just says "waiting for device" any idea why?If you are trying to install the JB update... you don't need to worry about as 2.11.... run option 1 of the utility to fast boot back to stock.... the adb error can be due to not unzipping the utility to your desktop.. need to update drivers....
Or trying to run the .bat file from outside the utility folder

Also.... when you plug in the USB (before trying to use the utility) does your computer recognize the phone being connected?.... try switching to mass storage wait for it to see the phone... then switch back to mtp mode...

got a quick question: trying to fastboot back to .211 using the utility 1.82 and when option 1 is selected it goes through the motion and then stops and gives some kind of "moto- fastboot is not external or internal" or something like that..anyone heard of this before? i'm trying to help someone online how to fastboot and he's telling me this is what he's seeing on his screen
Is the utility completely unzipped to the desktop? ..... trying to run the .bat file from outside the utility folder or from inside the zip?...reboot the computer and then try again..... the only reason you should be getting that error is if the .bat file can't "see" the fast boot files....

I've used the 1.82 utility on my phone to restore stock .211 and updated to JB no problems.
I used it on the wifes phone that is totally stock from VZW just to root and install Voodoo (options 2+3) which seemed to have worked fine but when I try to update the binaries in SU it says it is downloading then updating then gaining root access=FAIL. I downloaded SU Updater to see if that helped but I get the same FAIL message when SU tries to gain root at the end of the update.
SU lists the apps that I have allowed access to SU and everything seems to be right and I do have root access. I checked this by downloading Terminal Emulator and typing su and get the changeover from $ to # so I am assuming I do have root.
Once again on my phone I can update the binaries and it says "that was fun do it again" I used the same computer, cable and copy of the utility on both phones the only thing different is she has the original .211 that came on the phone and I had the version that is in the utility which by reading is the same.

Just replace su and Superuser.apk in the utility folder with the new files?
I didn't want to run the option 1 if I can help it... just wanted to have root and preserve it for when VZW decides to send out the JB OTA again.

Yes just copy and paste into the folder ( overwrite when prompted) ... should be good to go....
