I'm not sure i ever unzipped anything. I just downloaded the utility, opened the folder and ran the .bat file. I'll try to move the folder to the desktop and try again.

When you downloaded the utility, it should have been in a .zip file... when you double click on the zip file it should open up your default program for un compressing (un zipping) files... e.g. winzip...winrar...7zip... or the default windows program..... when it opens you need to choose "un zip... or extract all files " (depending on the program) .... then it will (usually) give you a choice as to where to extract the files... thats where you should choose your desktop.... you should then see a folder ( not a zip file) called DroidRazrUtility1.82 ..... that is where you should run the .bat file from .... here is a link to the most current Motorola drivers .... you need to choose either 32 bit or 64 bit ( depending on your system) and install prior to running the utility....

Just a couple of newbie questions.
1. What does vodoo and safestrap do. Do i need to do anything with these aps.
2. What is the best way to use the phone as a hotspot.
3. Is there a list of aps that's safe to freeze.

1. Voodoo is a rootkeeper app that should allow you to retain root thru OTA updates.... Safestrap is a custom recovery that will allow you to flash custom ROMs ... (it has been updated since this utility i will post the link for you in a couple min) ....
2. The hotspot, me personally i use the default tethering thru verizon mainly because its there and i pay for it..... So might as well use it
3. There is a number of app that you can safely freeze but i recommend installing safestrap and flashing a custom ROM.... Most of these already have the "crapware/bloatware" apps removed....
Edit .... Here is the link to hashcode's safestrap thread ... [Recovery]-Safestrap-Recovery-V3.0-[10/17/2012-V3.05---Ums-Fix]-[All-Razrs]

Hello. I rooted my phone (Droid Razr Maxx, ICS, Verizon) and all was well for several weeks. Today, I tried to install a new font from ROM Toolbox, and I ended up with a boot endless loop. Restore wouldn't work, so I used 1.82 to revert back to stock. I'm now trying to re-root with 1.82 but after I select option 2, it stays on "Waiting for device..." I have debug enabled and am connected in MTP mode. I also installed the drivers included with 1.82, after which Windows 7 (64-bit) installed its own drivers. Any ideas why I'm stuck on "Waiting for device..."? Thank you for the help.
Try the factory reset (data wipe) as mentioned earlier.... also reboot your computer..... and try again... if that does not work try reinstalling the drivers.... and of course double check that usb debugging is in fact enabled....

Are you sure your not trying to root in AP mode? you have to have the phone on and booted with all those settings for option 2

Hello everyone, I am trying to install the JB leak from today but my razr has safestrap 2.11 installed, is rooted with superuser and running CM10. Can I just run the utility to revert back to stock ICS or is there an easier way to go back? I had a backup of stock but it seems to have gone missing..... Thanks!
my opinion, you would be best off to go ahead and use the utility and go back to stock .211 (for a fresh clean start) ...... i think you will have to reroot then use Voodoo's root keeper to preserve root through the upgrade to JB..... the process to get the update and preserve root is outlined here

I'm trying to go back to the stock .211 from .215 using 1.82.

System does in fact take a long time to send then write but over 2 hours is too long.... try toggling the usb...(unplug then plug back in) .... that will sometimes be enough to "kick it back into gear" so to speak..... but if it has sat for two hours now... you run the risk of having a low battery.....

Thanks, toggled the USB, got:
"writing 'system' ... FAILED (status read failed <too many open files in system>>
<waiting for device >
sending 'boot' < 8192kb> ... okay
writing 'boot' ... okay
sending 'recovery' <9216 KB> ... okay
writing 'recover'
for what its worth, started with battery at 90%

hopefully that has done it for you..... even with starting with 90% charge, for some reason the utilities tend to eat thru the battery.....
