Didn't see win8 mentioned, so wanted to say 1.82 worked perfectly to root my RAZR on Win8 Pro. Only thing I considered worth noting was that it would not work using "Run as Administrator", rather had to run it under normal privledges.

Well then, some additional details may be in order-
Confirming this is on Win8 Pro,
- - doubt it'll work on the RT version, I don't think that one will even run command line utilities, but I'm not sure
I'm using a Local Account, not a Microsoft Account
My account is set as an Administrator

When using the right click Run as Administrator option, which I would have considered the default first method in Win7, to launch DroidRAZRUtility.bat everything appears to work and it launched very fast. Instantly even. Too fast, as it turns out.... I can get into the choice menu, can select option 2 to Root, the process starts & finds the device, then falls into the classic 'adb' not a valid line being repeated over & over again. The process completes almost instantly (again, waaay toooooo faaaasssstttt), and reports success at the end. Whole thing takes almost 1 (yup, one) whole second.

Yeah...

When I ran the bat file using normal rights for my profile, which again is an admin, first thing that happens is the daemon gets launched, which takes a few seconds. There's the exciting bit right there- that didn't happen before. After that everything happens as it's supposed to, and the rooting process takes a a few reboots and a few minutes to complete.

So, there ya go, for what it's worth, hope it helps somebody else & all that...

Hi guys. New to the maxx and have a couple of questions about this utility. Is this the tool for root now and maybe roms later? What is safestrap and do i need to download it also after root? thanks for your time.

Yes... this is the "go to" tool for the razr and razr maxx this is for rooting... and fastbooting back to stock .... safestrap is a custom recovery.... while it is not required for everyday use.... it is essential if you choose to install different roms.....

Either one is fine.... the new version offers the ability to flash multiple roms (in seperate slots) as opposed to only 1 ....

What USB setting should the razr be on? For 4.04, the only options are Mass Storage and Camera Mode. Charge only is not an option.

For option1 you need to be in AP Fastboot

For the rest of the options you need to boot normally and if all you have is mass storage and camera..... choose camera ....

Just curious, do you not have the media option like in the screenshot below?
