But there sooo nice heheh you can just delete the samsung apps out of the /system/app that you don't wantI use this rom as my DD and a super minimalist stripped-down version of this rom would be the ideal rom for me. I love the CNA features, performance boots, etc but I have no use for any of the Samsung/S3 apps and features. I end up disabling the ones I can but it isn't the same as an ultra-minimalist build (like blackhole rom with a CNA base).
Is there any chance you'd consider making a rom like that?

Perhaps someone can answer this, since I find it the most annoying thing about using ROMs.
Since we are expected to always do a full wipe system before updating a ROM, is there an easy way to keep application settings? I know Google can restore settings for some apps, but it doesn't seem to work for most apps (maybe because I download many of mine through the Amazon Store)
If OTA updates can keep all your existing information, why can't ROM updates?

Ota updates dont wipe data when they are installed unless you do it manually. The best way to back up apps is to use titanium backup or a similar app. Mind you that restoring apps and/or data can cause issues so keep that in mind. I personally haven't had too many issues with titanium backup but some people font believe it is a "clean install" when changing or updating ROMs. We wipe system, data, cache and so on to make sure there isn't anything left over from the previous ROM as to avoid issues. Ota's are built to be able to flash without having to wipe. Sometimes we do have to wipe data and cache after an ota if issues arise. Sorry if my explanation is confusing.

Just to add to tmyinc's great answer, when using TB to restore apps, only restore user applications, never system apps, that will definitely lead to trouble! I've been using TB for a few years and the only user app that I've found that doesn't like to be restored is Waze, for some reason everytime I try to restore it after flashing a new/updated ROM it will continually give "force close" errors even when I wipe the data for the app. The only thing that seems to work is to download it fresh everytime and that is a bit of a pain since I loose all my favorite destinations and have to recreate them. Hope this helps.
Cheers

I use Waze all the time too. Favorites should restore automatically once you log into Waze, since they are also stored on their server. I have used Waze for years on multiple phones and it always restores my favorites for me. I am #13 in my state, Pennsylvania (same username).
I had tried to use Titanium Backup in the past when switching phones, but it wouldn't recognize the backup on the new phone, so I gave up on it. Didn't think of trying it when just updating ROMs

Uhh, its not expected, you dont have to install a 3rd party rom. Phone comes with a rom, you could just drive that. I believe the proper response is a big thank you with a thumbs up and a +1. If you dont want to do the "work" involved with backing up, flashing, and restoring, then dont, stay stock. I feel lucky to have such a wonderful development community doing there thing making our phones, something to enjoy not just something to remember before you leave the house.Perhaps someone can answer this, since I find it the most annoying thing about using ROMs.
