Does that use the futex_requeue exploit, do you know? If so, I'd love to take a look at the source... I also wonder what would happen if someone tried the Sony exploit on the RAZR devices. Good progress in the last few days across the web... Root may just be possible.

Try it. It can only fail. That's it. I don't know if it's the same vulnerability. I believe so since JCase was commenting on it in that thread.

I'll give it a shot this evening and post my findings.

I think everyone would be curious as to your results. May not work, but, worth a shot.

Wow, it looks like my theory may have been right with a single app being able to root almost every device. So excited to see it. Even if it doesn't work instantly on these phones, if geohot was willing to release sources, it could be ported over. Awesome.

k1mu has the same idea. He's been working on it for the S4 but he says it's difficult to exploit every phone. So we'll have to wait and see. I hope someone is able to get a hold of it tomorrow and try it out on an HD and/or M and let us know if it works. He says any kernel before June 3 so that should be you guys. Here's hoping it works for you!

Sweet. Looking forward to it. I will be super psyched for you guys if it works. You all might consider kicking in for the bounty, too, just to show support. Just something to consider. If 4.4.3 does come for you guys, you want guys like JCase, geohot, pinkie pie, k1mu, and others working on it. Yourself included. What worries me is going forward. k1mu said that because of SE Linux and other security, the exploit becomes unstable very quickly. Once they button up those kinds of security features, it's going to become REALLY tough to exploit even known vulnerabilities in the future.
BTW, there is a rumor that Dan R is going to present another flaw in the TZ at a conference in August and that he's going to show a demonstration by doing another phone unlock. My opinion is that it'll be a Sammy phone this time....could you imagine if he found a way to unlock the S5? Holy hell. I'm not sure if that's what'll happen or not but the rumor is he's found another bug in the TZ and can unlock a "popular android device."

It's being posted in less than 30 minutes. Here's the important part. If it does not work on your phones, email geohot the model, the version, and an adb logcat so he can look at it and perhaps make it work for you. This is literally your best shot for root. Got my fingers crossed for you all.

No beans... I'll logcat tonight and email it over to him!

Congrats guys. If it works on the HD, then it's guaranteed it can work on the M, as well. VERY impressive!

You are correct! I re-ran the exploit, and for some reason this time around I have root access! Time to donate some moneys to Geohot! This is awesome.

SuperSU can be updated. Get 1.99 r4, extract it, and install the APK. Then you can update the su binary and you're done. This is really great for you guys!
