One more silly question.  If root lost due to an OTA,  suggestions are installing custom recovery, and flashing supersu to regain root. The flashing supersu part is easy, but what/where is custom recovery and how install it?

Also, is there any point in keeping TowelRoot as an active app on my phone since no need to run it again now even if OTA lost. Should I freeze or delete it?

Once you are unlocked you are Unlocked... Hense OTA cannot break it. Hence installing TWRP to flash root will always be avaible. I have the proper TWRP in a updater.zip which can be unzipped and installed through fastboot commands located in my Omni tread.

Let me add some clarification to this.  Once unlocked it would be foolish not to install/flash a custom recovery immediately.  Then yes, flashing a supersu package would be easier.  Because trying to do so after root is lost due to an OTA might become more problamatic.

Not really. Everyone should learn how to do it through fastboot. It's one line and then a power off, power up into the menu, then select recovery.

Just did this for the first time today, yes it is something everyone should learn. Once you do it, It's gravy.

Of course, it's not like I wrote a tool where you drop the recovery image in a recovery directory, run it, and it'll flash it for you while sideloading root... Or anything. Lmao Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

Used that option in HOM once, I forgot it was even there. Not sure how I even learned about it as there is no mention of it in the HOM original post. Thanks for all the work, support and tools that you provide.

There's a reason for that.  If I link it in the House of Moto post, then locked users will try it and brick.  Cause no one reads.  :D

So I have the 182.46.10 build, but I am having trouble downloading the TR APK.  I have unknown sources checked, which is all i thought i would need.  Let me know what stupid thing I am doing so I can fix myself.  Thanks
