Gratitude!
KitKat doesn't work well in my XT926 Maxx at all. The BL is locked and I cannot have the root access, so I cannot downgrade it. Now I may have a chance!

We're can I find this to read and learn about it? I did a search and the only thread that came up was this one. I want to go back to Jellybean and need to read up. Thank you for all your time on this for myself and everyone.Everyone should learn how to root on unlocked. I created an unlocked root script that flashes recovery (twrp or cwm) and sideloads supersu.

If you're unlocked and without root, there's two ways to do it. Both involve flashing custom recovery and installing the supersu zip file in recovery.
Manually, you can:
o) Ensure supersu.zip is on your phone either internal or external sdcard
o) Put your phone into AP Fastboot mode, connect it to a usb 2 port
o) Run 'fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img' from the command line. Replace nameofrecovery with the filename of your recovery
o) Immediately unplug from USB, power OFF the phone, hold volume up and down and press power, volume down to recovery, volume up to select
o) Flash supersu zip in recovery
The unplug and power off step is critical. If you let your phone boot after flashing recovery, custom recovery will be overwritten by stock recovery. This is the source of many "it didn't work" posts.
More automated:
That will install custom recovery and then walk you through sideloading supersu zip.

One surefire way is to boot the phone into AP Fastboot mode. It'll tell you right there. How do you know if your phone unlocked after running motopoclypse?

Power off, hold down volume down and press power and boot into fastboot. It was say LOCKED or UNLOCKED with a status code. You want status code 3.

Okay, thanks. More reading. Been reading the House of Moto thread as well, and I am going to give it a shot when I get home today.

Just post if you run into any issues. It can be challenging the first time or two running through it, but, once you get the hang of it it's pretty straight forward. It's something all you newly unlocked guys and gals should learn how to do blind folded. LOL

OP updated to reflect the fact that the playstore now has SuperSU 2.0 posted and can be used to update the su binary after rooting with towel root.

Superuser 2.0 hit the Google Play Store this morning.
Posted 18 June 2014 - 07:50 AM
Yes I know. That's why I updated the OP cause you no longer have to extract the Superuser apk to get the binaries to update. Just install it from the play store and you're good to go now. Much easier.

Hi guys,
I have flashed through RSD the flash_tz.xml file, but I 've forgot that I had used the Keep Data script and not the Universal one, now when I force restart the phone I always get into the AP Fastboot mode which tells me that "Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure" could someone please help me with this situation?
