Could you give me less details please.  I want to try and guess what the issue could be cause that's fun for all.    What error did you get?

Sorry about the lack of detail. I downloaded the script you provided and put it in the FXZ folder.  I put the phone into AP FASTBOOT mode and attempted to flash with RSD.  After less than a second it showed a flash failure.

Ok, I'm going to breath now....let's try a different tactic shall we?  Post the contents of the swdl.txt file from your RSD folder and we'll just go from that.

What did you flash the last time?  Cause it succeeded whatever it was.  I need to know what FXZ you're flashing.

The last thing I flashed was the FXZ you posted to revert to stock to get the kitkat OTA.  I had the time this afternoon so I decided to follow those directions again using the keep data script vice the universal.  Figured I'd provide you the feedback in case someone else has the same issue.

In the interest of me keeping my sanity and you getting this done before the next OTA comes out, let's just get to a working solution.

Go there, follow everything in the OP to get KK installed with the KEEP DATA script.  Don't use anything you've already downloaded...just download what's in that thread, and use it.

Once that's done, if it's not installed still, install towel root.  Run towel root.

Install, if it's not already, and run motoapocalypse.

That should get you rooted and unlocked build 183.

Just finished doing my wifes phone.  Had no problems with any of the steps, she now has a rooted, unlocked razr maxx hd.

This has really peaked my intrest in getting deeper into this.  I have downloaded the sdk for kitkat and houseofmoto. Now I am going to watch, read and listen.

Thanks again to all

Sam,  I do appreciate all of your help and patience.

That's what I was doing.  I downloaded all fresh files.  I have been stuck at the flashing system.img stage for over 40 minutes now.  This is significantly longer than it took the last time.  Should I just be patient or start over?

Well, it worked swimmingly for me. The oily thing that struck ME as odd was that's Motopacalypse never actually said that it did anything. It just kept saying that I should reboot to make sure root permissions worked. It did that after a couple reboots so I booted to AP Fastboot and it says that it's unlocked, status 3.

This worked for me as well, but for some reason TWRP is at some weird aspect ratio and is cutting off about a third of the screen. I used TWRP 2.7.1.0 for KitKat. I googled around but couldn't find much information.

I used the latest cwm. Haven't really done much tho except flash a few Roms.

That sounds to me like a USB problem.  Cable/port/driver....Perhaps switching to the House of Moto and using fastboot to flash may be in order.  I hate to tell you to kill a flash though.  That can seriously screw up a phone and brick it.  :(  But, 40 minutes is definitely too long.  It's a big file, but, that's a long time.  Something is definitely not right somewhere in your setup.

I'm using the same port and cable I've used in the past.  Can you direct me to the instructions for using House of Moto and fastboot?

I am trying mattlgroff's util and it is hanging at writing modem.  I haven't been able to get out of the fastboot mode due to failed flashes.
