If you're unlocked you can safely take the update. If it fails just use the FXZ with a keep data option in one of my tools to push it, then install TWRP or CWM recovery and flash supersu zip to regain root.

So... My Droid Razr-M recently died on me and got stuck at the bootup screen. I found this site and was really hoping that this would fix whatever is wrong with my phone, but everytime I try to do this process it fails at the first step. (Phone returned FAIL.)
I've double-checked drivers, made sure to plug into USB 2.0, and yet it still fails at 1/15 everytime.
Is there something else I can try? I really need this phone to work.
Thanks in advance

Need way more information. If you're using RSD Lite to flash, post the swdl.txt file from your RSD installation directory.

Not really. Are you using the OEM USB cable that came with the phone? Yes, it matters. Also I assume that the phone is charged. If not, it will not flash. Post the text of the AP Fastboot mode screen on the phone. ALL of the text.

I downloaded and attempted to flash that updated firmware, but I still got nowhere. It still fails at step 1 in the process.
Everything seems to be happening the same. The one difference that I noticed is that when this flash fails it's not generating new text on the phone.
What can I try now?

There's not a lot you can do. You can try using my RSD Flasher and flash the universal option with the newest FXZ, but, it's not likely to fix the issue.

Kaos - I'm attempting to use the RSD Flasher with RSD Lite 6.1.6.
Samuri - I just tried the universal option with the newer firmware to no avail.
If anybody has suggestions, I'm open to them.
I'm really hoping there's a way to fix this phone.

Yea, post the swdl.txt file from the RSD install directory as John suggested. We can take a look.

Try flashing it with the House of Moto and see if that makes any difference. I seriously doubt it, but, it's worth a shot. Post the text of the flashing window when it's done.

How do I use HouseOfMoto exactly? Is there a tutorial or something?
As I scroll down....
Sorry and nevermind
