I hate to be that guy that posts another thread requesting information on unlocking/rooting Razr M, but I think I confused myself by reading way too many threads (Saferoot, djrbliss exploit etc.,) I love the Razr M and I would like to get some advice before I accidentally brick this phone. So here goes the details

Phone: Razr M (unlocked - sim card agnostic)

Anroid: 4.1.2

Kernel: 3.0.31-gef7deb8

Build Number: 9.8.1Q-94-1

What I am trying to achieve: I would like to enable tethering, but I have unlimited data plan. I've already purchased the SQLLite in hopes to modify the db as mentioned

, but seems like I need root access. I am a little confused on which method gets me the root access. Since the build reads Sep 2013, I am hopefuly that it is not the latest patched.

Thank you!

Root can be achieved on that build, while unlocking cannot....

Thank you for the response. I tried that safe-root with USB debugging enabled. It didn't seem to do anything. Are you sure this works for Android 4.1.2? The prompt said safe root for Android 4.3. :(

ran adb.exe and tried the batch file again, and it did the trick. I am a happy camper. Thanks!
