I'm trying to find out how many of us S3 owners are here at the site :) Maybe if we come together in this thread, it'll be a start at getting this section going :P

So here goes.. I started in February on this site when my wife and I both got OG razrs. We then "graduated"(with some rare kindness from VZW) to each having a Maxx. The underlying story though.. I originally wanted a Galaxy Nexus, but we took what we could get with the Razrs on buy on get one free.. lol. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't get a Gnex, as we live in a rural area, and it would have been next to useless with it's weak signal issues.

Then the S3 came out, and I battled VZW for my uncle to get them to upgrade him from a Gnex to an S3. That REALLY made me want one.... So, I started posting around and managed to find a guy willing to trade his 3 week old S3 for my Maxx, and now my wife has followed suit by adding a line for my stepson, and taking the new phone.. you guessed it, an S3 lol. Both are rooted, unlocked, and romm'ed.. and now I can't imagine why I may ever go back to a locked device :P

My name is Heath by the way...

I also seem to be the only resident Rescue Squad member who has an S3, so of course I'm glad to help if needed :)

So here's the thread.. If you have an S3, please chime in, maybe even introduce yourself and your story that brought you to this awesome device ;)

Hi, I've had my S3 for about a week and a half now. Actually, I'm on my second. The first one had a problem with the volume rocker so I exchanged it. I rooted the first one on the first day but I haven't done it yet with this one. Eventually, I know I'll root and rom just for the fun of it but right now I am having too much fun discovering everything this phone will do right out of the box. My favorite feature so far is the briefing alarm and being able to just say "snooze" without moving my head off the pillow. LOL

BTW, my name is John and I'm located in southern West Virginia (close to Blackburg, VA).

It's a whole new world for me; very different from Motorola, but I'm getting it figured out. Since my last post I've rooted, unlocked and flashed CleanRom. Loving the S3 even more now!

What did you use for your recovery? I tried 2 options and neither worked. I did root and unlock the bl tho. Love the phone so far, even being stock! :D

I used Rom Manager. Found the link in a forum post on rooting, etc. Here's the link for the play store:

Very easy, one click recovery flash. It also lets you easily boot into recovery.
Glad you're enjoying the phone as much as I am.

I forgot about cwm. It's been so long since I've had a supported device.

Got my recovery now. Thanks man!

Had my S3 for about two months now and love it. Awesome awesome phone. And the g/f just got back on a Razr after a brief stint with an iPhone 4S....so I'm back in this neck of the woods :) Glad to be back.

Is everything working with blackbean? I would love to get some jb action going on my s3 but I rely too much on all the features of my phone to give up anything.

Its pretty dam stable . Data is good for me. There are tons of built in edits . I'm going to toss IMO'S kernel on it to see how it does.
